Beams and strobes of a garden variety of colors were streaming through the night sky while I floated just an inch off the ground watching them soar.

Everything was magic until, a sharp knife punctured my skin down around my stomach. It went in fast and hard as I jerked my head up towards the glittering blackness in the sky, and I could almost make out the certated sides. Well, that’s what it felt like. I bend down with the pain to be on my knees. I took deep breaths in and out and after a minute, the pain seemed to dissipate. Until, I arched my body back up and then, like an excruciating wave of agony swept over me again. It was just as bad as the first time. But once the pain started to leave, I thought about what it could be been from.

It had been a normal day and night. Nothing out of the usual, except I had taken a hit of acid. But I had taken acid before and nothing like this had ever happened. The pain came again. And again. And again.

I went the rest of the night with my friends like that, sitting in colors and lights, hoping whatever it was would let up and vanish completely. It never did though.

I was about to be eighteen and still living with my parents, but I dared not to speak to them about it. What if it was from the acid? I couldn’t let them know I had been tripping. So, I stayed in my room the next day as long as I could.

That night, I couldn’t take the throbbing torment any longer so I spat out my pride told my parents.

I was taken to the doctor, then immediately rushed to the hospital with a white-blood cell count through the roof. My appendix had burst and according to the doctor, if I had waited any longer, death would’ve been knocking on my door.
