Today I interviewed artyom viskov. He is a former Soviet diplomat who made an escape from the Soviets. Born in 1942 during the leningrad siege. The date of the interview is 25/4/1975

“so you were born in leningrad correct?”

“yes, it was as you say not a fun time."

“ tell me about it? Any memories while there?”

“uhm yes in fact I do remember something.”

“ what was it?”

“ the nazis killing my mother!”

“ I'm sorry for your loss, I wish she could have been saved.”

“ ah yes, we all do but there is nothing we can really do right now is there?”

“right, so how were you treated in the Soviet union?”

“ I'm ex diplomat yes? Well quite good with all of the alcohol and food I could ever want!”

“what what made you decide to run?”

“ well those benefits I had soon ran out once power was moved yes? My comrade Reznov got kicked out to some Chinese city for a scandal.”, “ so I decided I'm going to America!”

“ that was literally the only reason?”

“ not exactly, there is more to it you see.”

“ well okay then, please expand.”

“ the government in Soviet Union was very corrupt, full of greed and treachery.” “ pictures from the gulags in Siberia got out and the public was growing weary of the officials.” “ soon enough the entire government is focused on producing nuclear weapons and that's about it.” “why why build nukes when you don't want a war? You may be asking well I will tell you the answer to that.” “ Nuclear weapons are a way to get what you want because no one wants a nuke to be used on their land, no one wants to lose an entire city so the Soviets build them to bargain with those who couldn't protect themselves from one.” “ not to mention the horrible proxy wars.” “ I luckily wasn't brainwashed by the Soviet government and was able to make a escape.”

Artyom stood up, he was tall. Tall enough to nearly touch the roof with his head. He stretched and left the room. He was a true Soviet if I have ever seen one.
