[Jack lays down in great pain on the couch infront of a table]
Jack: Oh dearest friend, tell me. Tell me that tale, that tale of heroes and goddesses.
[Kindness sets down her drink with a boom across the long wooden table.]
Kindness: As much as I would like to tell that story (which isn't exactly in my top desires), you still seem to be grieving. Are you sure you're ready?
Jack: My would I my dearest living. It's been so long since then. My I was still living when it happened. I was...happy.
Kindness: Okay... No need to get dramatic. Hmm... Where shall I begin?
Jack: Yes dear. Why don't you begin where all the great tales began. At the beginning.
Kindness: From the beginning.. Okay. Once there was a King. He was the grandest King (and only King) in the land. He had everything he wanted, yet he was bored and fed up with his own Kingdom. They were as technologically advanced as possible and life was always the same. Perfect. The King went to bed early one night, trying to rid his mind of his troubles, and miraculously a God visited him. He spoke great words of wisdom.
God: My dearest King. With your kingdom great and advancements vast. Your life is perfect compared to most but you seem unhappy with it. Well now I bring you this, a warning that in 2 months from now your days of peace and tranquility will come crumbling down.
Kindness: The King's face turned bright red and you could almost see the steam blasting from his ears. He wasn't just appalled, he was furious.
King: What do you mean?! I spent so long building up this Kingdom. We would have to start all over again! That would be horrible!
Kindness: Then the King stopped himself. His face returned to its former shade and he thought deeply about the roots and intentions that his actual wish held. He wished to start over. Maybe this would be good fortune.
King: Would it really be that bad?
God: Yes, in two months time. Where your life is perfect, look at your people, they are suffering and unhappy. In those two months, they will plot while a child is born. This child will have great powers, far beyond any ever seen before, and will bring you to your knees. Your head WILL roll.
[the God begins to fade away]
God:[echo] heed my warning
Kindness: The King's eyes turn wide, his body starting to convulse.
King: NO! That's not what I meant! Come back! I can't die. Help... I need to help.. I need to live...
Kindness: The King woke up the next morning, his face stained with tears. He pulled himself up, sitting on his grand bed. Determination filled his dry eyes.
King: I must stop the birth of this child. I will stop the birth of this child. That God will regret ever messing with me.
Kindness: Little did he know that far away, the God was saying that exact same thing about the King at an otherworldly conference.
God: That ungrateful brat will regret ever messing with me!
Jack:[chuckles] My, the King was always mad but this must be where my knowledge of the story must begin. Whilst the King was cursing this God there was a lady and a man far out in the country side about to have a chance encounter
Dad: Get your lazy butt to work Josh!!!
Josh: Alright alright pops
Sophie: No need to yell, I'm sure he would hear you just as well if you just spoke at normal volume. And, I could always help.
Josh: Ah miss Sophie, here to pick up your supplies?
Sophie: Yes Please. How much are they?
Josh: Ah, the eggs are four bits for a dozen and the flour five bits a sack
Jack: Heh, he told me that she was one the most beautiful girls he had ever laid eyes on [coughs]
[Kindness laughs]
Sophie: Ah okay.
[Sophie opens her cloth sack and hands him the money plus 5 bits extra]
Josh: Oh my, what's this for?
[Sophie smiled]
Sophie: For safe keeping. Thank you.
Josh: [blushes] Oh, my. Thank you
[Josh takes the money]
[Sophie winks]
Sophie: My pleasure. I need to make sure that the good-looking men in this town stay happy.
[Sophie hugs Josh before taking her goods up]
Sophie: Bye, Take care!
Josh: [speechless] Oh, ah, uh...bye, miss
[Sophie waves before walking away]
[Josh waved]
Dad: Get to work!!!
[Josh jumped and got back to work]
Sophie: What a dream boat... i've gotta come more often...
[Sophie checked her sack and found 25 bits left over.]
Sophie: Just enough to do some cloth shopping and maybe buy leather for shoes, too.
[Sophie walks to the market place while Josh struggles with digging a hole]
Josh: Why won't this dang shovel come out of the ground!
[Josh finally pulls it out catapulting the dirt into someone's face]
Jack: AH SHIT
[Jack was on the second floor of the barn passed out from drinking too much last night]
[Josh whips his body around, surprised to see a person]
[Jack groaned]
Jack: What the...crap, what happened?
[Jack held his head]
Josh: Who are you and why the f...
[Josh stops himself just in time] Why are you in my barn?
Jack: Hm? Oh ah heheh. I uh was out drinking last night. Had a bit too much and found this place
[Josh rubs his temples]
Josh: Let me get this straight. You found a random barn in the woods and went to sleep in it. Have you watched a horror movie? Ever?
[Jack stands up revealing his swords. One on his back the other on his waist. He stumbles to Josh]
Jack: Look mate. If i did something stupid I'll repay you. If not, I'll be on my merry little way.
[Josh swings his shovel]
Josh: Want some tea? It might help with the overhang.
Jack: No no, I think i can manage. I best be on my way. I don't want to be caught at the port at night.
[Josh continues to swing his shovel, almost having fun.]
Josh: Need anything for the way? You dont seem to be..... Stable? Yeah, that seems to be the best word.
[There was a playfulness to his voice, almost mocking Jack's situation.]
Jack: No no, thank you
[Jack began his strideful sway-like stumble to the port and of both youngmen being the same age Jack was more...adult like ]
[Josh continued to swing his shovel]
Sophie: First, I figure out all the shops are closed. Second, someone tries to rob me. Third, I am forced to go down the country road because the main one is closed.
[As Sophie walks down the dirt road, sighing, she spots the two men. She waves before approaching them]
Jack: aye lass, seems that you're having a bad day. Shall i accompany you to your destination?
[Josh is secretly annoyed at Jack]
Sophie: And what might your name be?
[Jack took a bow]
Jack: I am but a nameless wonderer miss.
[Sophie raises an eyebrow and crosses her arms before speaking]
Sophie: Well, "nameless wonderer", I will go on this condition. You allow me to repay you. This is non-negotiable.
Jack: Repay me for what? It's not safe for a pretty lass like you to be by yourself at this time of day.
[Josh pretends to cough]
Josh: I'm sure she can handle herself. You on the other hand-
[Josh looks Jack over with a skeptical look]
Josh: -not so much.
[Jack chuckled and places his hands on the pomel of the sword on his hip]
Jack: And you what can you do, boy?
[Josh grins, his eyes shining]
Josh: More than you could ever do.
[Sophie holds her hands up]
Sophie: No need to fight. I think I'm going to walk back to the plaza to find a restroom. Both of you better not be in pieces.
[Jacks eyes go from a light brown to an onyx color as he slighty draws his sword]
Jack: no promises miss
[Josh puts his hands in his pockets]
Josh: Don't worry, if anyone gets hurt, it will be him.
[Sophie opens her mouth in protest, but closes it again. She stares at them, before hurrying to the restroom.]
[Jack waited till Sophie, left then got a good grip on both swords]
Jack: So what are you afraid of, boy.
[Josh scratches his chin, pretending to be thoughtful]
Josh: Dont pretend you aren't trying to steal a girl. Oh, and if you're trying to be intimidating, give it up, you look as intimidating as a puppy dog might. Or Should I say a drunken fool?
[Jack draws the sword from his back. The sword being a plasma sword in the shape of a katana and points it at Josh]
Jack: Listen here and listen well. One I don't intend on stealing your little girly friend and two don't tempt me to end both of you. Got it.
[Josh drops his shovel on the ground with a boom. He pushes Jack's sword out of the way and approaches him]
Josh: You? End me? That's as possible as a fish falling in love with fire. You'd better leave before it gets too late.
[Josh backs up]
Josh: Go on, I'll give you a second.
[Jack draws the other sword and poses]
Jack: make me
[Josh shrugs as he walks to the side of the barn]
Josh: Your loss
[He picks up a sword of his own, though significantly smaller. He swings it skillfully before holding it by his waist]
Josh: So are you going to make a move, or are you going to stand there all day?
[Jack gives a kiss]
Jack: You first
[Josh laughs]
Josh: No no, you first.
Jack: Alright
[Jack walked slowly towards Josh]
[Josh remains in the same place and whistles]
[Jack walked passed Josh and whispered to him as he passed by]
Jack: make sure aren't shaking next time...human
[Josh pretends to be scared]
Josh: I'm shaking in my boots.
[Josh returns his sword and spots Sophie]
Sophie: You two didn't fight, did you?
[Jack quickly slashes Josh's Achilles tendon then jogs off]
[Josh falls to the ground throwing out curse words.]
[Sophie sprints after Jack]
Sophie: COME BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!
[Jack sheaths his swords and looks back at Sophie, his onyx eyes swirling into green cat eyes then sprints off]
[Sophie runs even faster]
Sophie: Just tell me why you did it!
Jack: It's called teaching a lesson
[Jack ran faster than Sophie for a little then simply vanished]
[Sophie stopped and caught her breath. She knew she didn't have time to be angry, so she planned to run back to Josh.]
[A young girl was in the fields near by and went to check out what was happening]
[Sophie looked towards her in desperation.]
Sophie: Did you see him disappear?
[The little girl jumped back but then she slowly nodded]
[Sophie held her head and mutters]
Sophie: I thought I was crazy.... Anyways, what's your name?
[The girl walked to Sophie slowly and carefully, not completely trusting her.]
Girl: Y-Yui, miss
Sophie: Yui, do you have a first aid kit or bandages near by? Please! My friend is bleeding to death.
[There was a rush and desperation dominating her voice]
[Yui meekly looked at Sophie and shook her head]
[Sophie, distraught, started frantically looking around]
Sophie: Is there an adult around?
[Yui scrounged around in her pocket and pulled out a needle and thread]
[Sophie grabbed the needle and relaxed. She started to run, but turned around]
Sophie: You can stay here or come if you want.... It's not pretty..
[She sprinted away with the needle and thread in hand]
[Yui sprinted behind Sophie curious as to what was going to happen to the boy]
[Sophie reached Josh, obviously exhausted]
Sophie: You're going to be okay!
[She finds the source of the wound and begins to stitch it up with great concentration. However, there is immense worry in her face as she begins to discover how bad the wound truly is]
[Yui looked at the immense blood and turned away trying not to vomit]
Yui: M-miss, you'll eventually need to cauterize the cut and he'll no longer be able to use that foot
[Sophie stops working for a moment fear filling her eyes. Tears start to form, but she wipes them away.]
Sophie: I... I understand.
[She pulls out an emergency bag and searched through it]
Sophie: bandages, tissues, cond- uh
... Here they are
[She pulls out a tiny lighter]
Sophie: My father never lets me leave home without it.
[Yui tilt her head at that last thing and without Sophie realizing she stole the bag and scrounged through it seeing a strange packet]
[Sophie started to light the lighter, but stops]
Sophie: Better check the bag for some ice packs
[She turns and sees Yui holding the condoms. She blushes.]
Sophie: ...
[Yui had found some empty syringes and put them in her pocket then looked back at Sophie]
Yui: ...uh, heheh
[Yui gave back the bag but palmed the condom]
Sophie: Th-Thanks.
[She mutters]
Sophie: Thank God he's unconscious...
[She lights the lighter and stablizes him before carefully burning the skin along the stitches. She doesnt realize that the condoms are gone.]
[Yui takes out make shift gauntlets and replaces the blades with the syringes she stole]
[Sophie finshes the burning and places the ice pack on the scar. She wipes the beads of sweat off her forehead, still focused on Josh]
[Yui holds her hands behind her back and sits]
Yui: ...Will he be ok miss
Sophie: I think so. The wound is closed and I cooled down the burning. I have some pain relievers for him when he wakes up.
[She takes a deep breath]
Sophie: It's kinda late. Do you have to go home?
[Yui just looked down and stayed there in silence]
Sophie: Okay. im going to take that as a no. I'm going to take him into the barn, hopefully he isn't too heavy. Can you hold my bag?
[Yui took her hands from behind her back and help Sophias bag and nodded]
[Sophie dragged Josh to the barn and laid him on a pile of hay. Then she proceded to put together two more bed of hay, and she plopped down on one, too tired to keep standing.]
Sophie: Im exhausted... Wake me up if you need anything.
[Yui nodded then scurried and hid away]
[Sophie fell asleep]
[Yui sat in a corner and started crafting poisons all through the night]
[Sun rises]
[Sophie wakes up and Josh starts to roll around, not quite awake, but most definitely alive]
Jack: Yui! Yui, you there kiddo!
[Sophie, now sitting up, only stares blankly in the direction of the voice, too drowsy and too oblivious to say anything. Josh is tossing and turing obviously in pain]
[Jack walked into the barn and immediately found Yui]
Jack: Sis, there you are lass
[Jack and Yui hugged then Yui showed him the poisons she made, smiling]
[Sophie begins to become more aware of her surroundings and watches them, wondering what was happening]
[Jack smiled at Yui then stood up straight and looked at Sophie his fading into a crimson color]
Jack: He learnt his lesson
[Sophie face reveals immense anger for just a second, before she takes a deep breath and speaks]
Sophie: What business do you have here? And what do you have to do with Yui?
Jack: I sent Yui to watch you two. She was an orphan I found on the streets. I basically adopted her. I call her my little sisteer.
[Sophie rubbed her temples before murmuring]
Sophie: What have I done to deserve this.... What has Josh done to deserve this...
[She stares at the pair with narrowed eyes]
Sophie: Do you want to hurt me too?
[She stands up fully awake]
Sophie: Do you?
Jack: Only if pretty boy over there doesn't get his act together. Aside from that I'm just here in the city with my sis to rob from some pirates
[Sophie visibly relaxes.]
Sophie: You're not too bad.... But dont think that makes up for slicing my friend. What did he even do?
[Jack sits and let's Yui sit on his lap]
Jack: Well I was going on my merry way when he started instigating a fight [he pulls out his plasma katana] I made sure to use my least lethal weapon.
[Josh begins to awake]
Sophie: Thanks for that i guess, but you still rendered him unable to walk...
[Sophie smiled sadly, as distant memories filles her head. Ones she knew would never be made again.]
[Jack sat and stared at the ground infront of him and his eyes brightened to a fiery red]
[Yui was too entranced by her most prowed achievement her gauntlets]
[Sophie came back to reality and saw Jack's eyes. She froze her, legs telling her to run, her voice teling her to scream, and her brain telling her to fight. She did none of this, and just stayed right there.]
[Josh is awake and in intense pain from the burning, stitches, and cut. His faces is crimson red, from obvious concentration in order to tolerate the pain (and maybe the sight of Josh and Sophie.)]
Jack: ...
Sophie: Maybe you'd better go.... See you around?
[Sophie says this with a rather shaky voice]
Sophie: I think Josh needs some pain killers anyways...
[Jack snaps out of it and his eyes turn a turquoise green]
Jack: ...yeah [he picks up Yui]...chao
[Sophie sighs and opens her bag. She searches through it for the pain killers and spots a pair of gloves]
Sophie: Weird..
[She doesnt think too much of it though, and finds the medicine]
Sophie: Ah... here they are. Liquid or Pills?
[Sophie glances at Josh]
Josh: son, of, A BITCH. THAT MOTHER FUCKING ASSHOLE. I'll take pills.
[Sophie opens the bottle of pills and hands Josh one. She also gives him a bottle of water.]
Sophie: They're pretty strong so they should last a good 4 hours.
[Josh took the pill and popped it in his mouth then took a swig and swallowed the pill]
Josh: Thanks soph [blush] er-I mean, miss
[Sophie smiles warmly and searches through her bag.]
Sophie: You dont have to be so formal with me, you know... Your dad's not around.
[She pulls out two shiny, wrapped bars]
Sophie: Also, are you.. hungry? I have granola bars.
Josh: Thanks [he took the bar and unwrapped it then looked at his injured foot] ...
[Sophie sighed deeply]
Sophie: I can't believe this happened... And I couldnt do a thing to stop it. You will never be able to use that foot again...
Josh: No, it was that assholes. What was his deal?
Sophie: He just told me that he thought you needed to get your act together. I think you irritated him somehow...
[Josh just grumbled trying to not let Sophie know he got jealous or that Jack threatened to kill her]
Sophie: Do you know where i could shower? Sleeping on hay isnt the most hygenic thing to do...
Josh: In the house or the river take your pick. Just know my dad might take it the wrong way....
Sophie: I'll take the river... Do you need anything before I go?
[She was clearly worried for him]
Josh: A foot?
[Sophie gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before leaving]
[Josh blushed]
[Sophie approached the river, and surveyed her surroundings. It seemed to be all clear. She stripped off all her clothes and grabbed her bottle of soap, before jumping into the freezing cold water. She let out a brief shout, before proceding to wash herself.]
[Yui came running out of the real grass with her gauntlets on and looked around to see if there was trouble]
[Sophie, not spotting Yui, finished cleaning her body, and started to wash her hair. She was almost enjoying the time "alone".]
[Yui spotted Sophie and ran into the river fully clothed and growled looking for danger]
Sophie: Yui! S-sorry if i alarmed you... I was going to take a bath... and the water was cold.... so i screamed...
[Sophie's face was red from embarrassment]
[Yui, in her winter attire, sighed]
Jack: [echos] Anyone there Yui
Sophie: S-sorry Yui. You'd better turn away. I'm getting out of the water to get my towel.
[Yui turns but is still growling]
[Jack yawns next to Yui]
[Sophie leaps out of the water and quickly wraps her towel around her body. She sighs, before picking up her things and walking back to the barn]
[Jack appears beside Yui and picks her up and strides behind Sophie]
[After reaching the barn, Sophie greets Josh]
Sophie: Hey, im all done!
[Her face is still pink from the earlier embarrassment, and she isn't quite dry yet.]
Jack: Ah, I see you're awake, boy. How's that foot of yours [He gave a wicked grin and his eyes swirled into crimson cat eyes]
[Josh looks at Jack in rage]
Josh: I don't know... How is that ego of yours?
[Sophie looks at the two guys. There was an internal conflict of whether to intervene or wait a little longer. She decided to wait, and hoped it didnt get too heated]
Jack: Nonexistent as always mate. You were the one who became hostile.
Josh: What's your definition of "hostile"? Can't take a hit? You were the one showcasing your swords.
Jack: keep running that mouth of yours and your girlfriend here will have to fix your other foot
[Josh stops. He looks around suddenly aware of his surroundings. He glances at Sophie. She is shocked, but manages a slight shake of her head. Then he glances at Jack then mutters under his breath]
Josh: Forget it... You're not worth my time anyway...
[All of a sudden three blades stick to the wall right side of Josh's face and Yui is pointing her fist at him]
Jack: If you think I'm bad. You shouldn't make HER mad.
[Josh just looks at the two of them and bursts out into laugher and wipes tears out his eyes. Sophie glares at him, but doesnt say a word]
Josh: I needed a good laugh. Thanks for the joke, man.
[Then, She steps in and starts to talk]
Sophie: I'm sure he didn't me-
[In the blink of an eye Yui has her bladed gauntlet an inch away from piercing Josh's jugular]
Yui: ...[she growls and gives a deathly straight face]
Jack: she was orphaned because her parents were top tier assassins. The way we met was because there was a bounty on my head and she was going to collect.
[Sophie puts her hands over her mouth in shock. Josh is frozen. His face is only showing horror, and his face is deathly white. Sophie speaks again, shattering the silence]
Sophie: Please Josh... You're going to get yourself killed...
[She turns to Jack and Yui]
Sophie: He doesnt know what he's doing... He just took medicine in fact. And Yui... All I can say is sorry.
Sophie: Sorry for what you have gone through. I'm glad you found Jack.
Sophie: Though, I am interested as to how your first encounter went. I'm sure Josh is too. Isn't that right, Josh?
[Josh nods his head mindlessly, his face void of any emotion, even the horror having faded.]
Jack: Yui, vaja.
[Yui lowered her gauntlet then grabbed the blades in the wall and put them back on her other gauntlet]
Jack: I was in two towns over and one day and I see guards doing a patrol of the streets so I slip into a alley hoping to avoid trouble...funny, that bounty is still on my head. As I was walking in the alley I see a small girl crying. I went over to see what was wrong and instantly I have blades slashing at my neck. Needless to say I used some tricks up my sleeve to stop my head from rolling but as we fought In just feeling bad that an eight year old is having to do this. So I knock her out and wait for her to wake up. When she did I showed I was no threat and well...things took off from there
[Sophie smiled the type of smile that show throughout your face and into the depts of a soul. Her eyes were just a bit watery, and there was an aura of genuineness, and gentleness surrounding her.]
Sophie: That is so sweet....She must mean a lot to you...
Jack: Yeah, but I don't recommend fighting her. Was I normal, I would have surely lost my head and well. Fighting either of us in general is a bad idea.
[Sophie turns to Josh, her arms crossed]
Sophie: Do you hear that Josh?
[Josh was out of the trance, and looked fairly normal, but there was still something to his voice]
Josh: Sure
[Sophie wondered if it was Jealousy, or something else...]
[Jack's eyes faded into normal brown eyes]
Jack: So how did you two meet and how long you been dating
Sophie: Uh we're not-
[Josh interrupts her]
Josh: She just buys goods from my dad's farm.
[Sophie looks at her bare feet.]
Sophie: Y-yeah
[Jack grinned and both Jack and Yui giggled]
Sophie: Can't we just be classified as friends?
[Josh looks away, into the distance]
Jack: Alright, although I don't think someone wants it that way
[Josh's face blossoms into a faint pink shade, and he turns his head even further away. Sophie, however, is clueless]
Sophie: What?
[Jack blinked slowly, smiling]
Jack: How's about we go on an adventure
Sophie: Okay! Where are we going?
Jack: I heard of this kingdom where this king has gone mad. Might be some fun there
Sophie: Sounds interesting... I'll go. Josh, Do you want to come?
[Jack grinned and took out a cigarette and began to smoke]
[Josh shakes his head, his back turned completely away from them.]
[Sophie grabbed her backpack]
Sophie: I'm going to go change outside. Scream really loudly if you need anything.
[She leaves]
Jack: So when are you going to tell her mate
[Josh turns to look at Jack. His face is a fair bit pink.]
Josh: Tell her what?
Jack: You know what I mean mate
[He sighs]
Josh: I just don't want to hear her say no.
[Josh runs his hand through his hair]
Josh: Being friends is better than the alternative.
Jack: No risk, no reward...i should know
Josh: It's been one year. One year of hiding this. It wouldn't hurt to try.
[Josh looks up after realizing that he had been staring at the floor]
Josh: Thanks mate.
[Jack laughed and gave Yui a piggy back]
Jack: You making fun of the way I talk mate?
[Josh grins]
Josh: Not in the slightest.
[Sophie walks in, clothed in flipflops and a wrinkled blue dress.]
[Jack looked at Sophie and smiled then looked at Josh]
Jack: Well boy, shall we head out as well [he winked and slightly nodded at Sophie]
[Josh put his hand on his neck, obviously nervous.]
Josh: Actually I want to talk to Sophie first...
[He nervously glances at her, to see her reaction. She is smiling.]
Sophie: Sure.
[She turns to Jack and Yui.]
Sophie: We'll just be a minute.
[Jack nodded and walked with Yui outside]
Sophie: So? What is it?
[Josh stammered and slowly began to turn red]
Josh: Uhhhhhh
Sophie: Come on just tell me. I wont judge whatever it is.
[Josh sighed and thought]
Josh: ...will you...go out, with me
[Sophie looks at him in shock. Then, she suddenly kisses him on the cheek.]
Sophie: Does this answer your question?
[Josh was paralyzed with excitement and bright red and hugged Sophie and kissed her back]
Josh:[crying] yes, yes it does
Sophie: Don't let the others see you crying.
[She wipes some of the tears away]
Sophie: Now come on, do you need any help getting up?
[Jack chuckled and whispered to himself]
Jack:[whispered] heh, good on you lad
[Josh sniffled and nodded]
[Sophie helps Josh get up, the lets hom rest his arm on his shoulder, to stabilize him. Together they walk out of the barn, each exhausted.]
Jack: Shall we
