FlowerFairies Ep.1 Read Count : 56

Category : Books-Fiction

Sub Category : Fantasy
One day, a dazzling meteor shower struck the earth, breaking into glorious colour and changing the world forever. In the direct aftermath of the meteors’ fall, mysterious wildflowers began sprouting out of the concrete of sidewalks, the dirt on the fields and all over the city, and emitted a soft glow.

After that, the evening newscaster reported  to millions that an astonishing event happened: a middle aged woman had just discovered a finger-length, living and breathing little girl with silvery wings inside the neat folds of one of those wildflowers.

Havoc ensued as most of the men, women and children of all ages proceeded to hoard these wildflowers, eager to find these adorable winged creatures. More reports started flowing in about people coming across and befriending these otherworldly beings. Since they were so similar to the mythical creatures in lore, they were called Fairies.

One of these people who began experiencing life with a Fairy was a young blonde haired, light-blue eyed girl named Dawn Falldew.

On that fateful, slightly chilly autumn day, Dawn was walking home from school, admiring the scenery by the sidewalk: how the lined trees burst into a passionate sea of red and gold and how delicately the leaves dipped from side to side as they float off the branches like red boats released down a river.

Just then, below a streetlamp, another girl in a purple dress was yelling, while holding on to something tiny in her hand, while her mother was trying to calm her down.

“Moooom! But this fairy is so ugly! It’s ugly and I don’t want it!” The girl complained in a high voice. When Dawn walked closer in curiosity, she could see that the girl was holding onto the arm of an extraordinarily miniature dark haired girl in a grey dress.

When the tiny girl lifted her face up, Dawn could see her tear stained face. And that was enough for Dawn to act.

Much to the surprise of the mother and daughter duo, a strange girl dashed out of nowhere, scooped the newborn fairy from the other girl’s hand, and placed the fairy by her left cheek and her free hand to lightly clasp over the fairy as if to embrace her.

“But that’s MY fairy!” The daughter protested, but was interrupted by her mother who grabbed her by the hand, saying, “Let’s go Luna honey, you are late for your violin lesson, just leave the fairy behind.”

Even after the mother and daughter left, latter still scoffing at the ‘weird girl’, Dawn still hugged the fairy by the cheek, and the fairy slowly raised her hands to hug back.

Dawn did not stop until the fairy on her palm broke into giggles, which made her laugh whole-heartedly as well. After a while, Dawn gazed up at the amber sky.

“I lost track of time! Let’s go home!” Dawn remarked, as she carried on walking down the path.

Along the way back, they met a busy intersection as the fairy was startled by the heavy traffic, and cars rushing about on the road with flashing lights. “Hold my hand,” Dawn smiled at the little girl as she spoke, “Mother says that if we hold hands when we cross roads, we would be fine. We can watch out for each other.”

Dawn used her pinky finger to lift up the fairy’s hand in what she hoped was a reassuring gesture. The fairy weakly smiled in response, even though she was terrified.

Carefully, Dawn made her way across the roads, and was in front of Dawn’s house, which was white with a teal blue roof and sky blue windows overlooking a garden with pretty blue bell shaped flowers.

There, Dawn asked, “Hey, I can take you home if you want, but it is getting late, it’ll be okay if you want to sleep over at my place.” Dawn did not know that the fairy did not understand her language.

All the fairy could see was how beautiful Dawn was when the sun set, cloaking the scenery around them with a pretty golden hue which lit up Dawn’s warm smile which drove away the autumn cold, and of the kindness of the first stranger that touched her heart.

So she did what she learned to express her emotions and reached out her arms to hug Dawn as she did for her.

It was the start of a special and precious relationship.

“Welcome home!” Dawn said in a sing-song voice as she greeted her new friend at the door with a cheerful grin.
