I am who I am.
In my women's group they say over and over that you cannot control others around you or their actions,you can only control yourself and your actions. I have come to find out that this has never been more true. Here's a little story.
My girlfriend messaged me earlier completely heartbroken so I asked her why.she than proceeded to tell me that today she had witnessed a baby deer get hit while trying to cross the road with its mother,its leg had been injured..she than got out of the car and ran to it to try and help it get to its mom as she was on the other side watching. Another car was driving past and purposely hit the baby deer while she was trying to help it and sped off as she threw a rock at the car. 
The baby died right in front of her eyes and she began to cry. Not only because the baby got hit again,but because its mother watched the whole thing happen. She felt sympathy for the animals and so did I because it broke my heart as well. 
I can't help but to often ask why people are so cruel to nature now. There are other animal lovers out there like us that would do anything to help a wounded animal out of harms way..and than there are those like the driver that don't care anymore and do everything they can in their power to cause harm. As sad as that is to point out. 
I tried to calm her down and reassure her that she had done the right thing but I couldn't bare to tell her that That's just life-it shouldn't be how life is. It's not the type of life I would want my kids to know about and I have always taught my kids to respect animals. 
But I have to keep reminding myself that:
We cannot control others or their actions,we can only control ourselves and our own actions. 
Hopefully things get better over time because right now they seem like they're falling apart in this world. And I know there are plenty of you out there that will agree.
