I stood before two doors, both similar but not alike. I'm just a child in this big world but for some reason, I'm being forced to choose. I go to the door to the right, hoping it holds what I seek. I turn the knob and step inside the dark room. The door slams behind me and cuts off the light from outside. I can still see but not well and I squint when I look around. I see a single chair facing a small television. My feet fall silent on the dark carpet and my eyes fall upon the sad walls that hold no memories. I see a blanket nailed to it with a beast printed on it. It bears its teeth in warning. I wonder why it tells me this. I quietly continue towards a hallway and follow its directions. I see a room where light is flowing out of. I peek inside and even though there is light, it's more sad than the rest of the house. Inside I see an old woman, bent and bony. She's looking down and has hair covering her face. To be honest, it worried me. "Excuse me," I queitly say. She does not respond and I wonder if she ever will. I take a step foward and repeat myself louder. Still no response. I lift up foot to take another step when suddenly she shoots her gaze to me. "Who are you," she yells. I take two steps back and stumble on words. She makes no move to get up but I can tell she's angry. She repeats her question and I say, "I'm sorry". Then I ran. I ran back down the hall and past the beast. She yelled for me to come back but I didn't listen. The beast watched me run out the door. He smiled in delight. I opened the next door and dashed inside. It was like a completely different world compared to the other place. I walked on wooden floors and saw walls that told stories. Light filtered in through the windows, not covered by curtains. I saw another old woman, except this one was standing and wore bright clothes. She smiled brightly as she placed beautiful flowers on the table. She heard my steps and turned towards me, "Where have you been, darling. I wondered if you disappeared." I didn't tell her about the other room, the room with no light. I smiled, "I never left."
