Bakery, Chapter One: Read Count : 101

I woke up to the sound of my alarm blaring into my ears. I looked down at my hand covered in my drool. Oh, no! I fell asleep! I quickly jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom. I brushed my hair and teeth, and got dressed. Grandma was going to be upset! I tried to act calm when I walked into the kitchen otherwise my mom would make a huge deal out of...a huge deal.

"Morning, Grace!" My mom sang. I'll admit, my mom does have a good voice but for some odd reason I get embarrassed when she sings. Maybe it's because I have an aweful voice.

"Morning, Mom." I sighed.

"What's wrong?"

I yawned, "I'm just still tired...I couldn't get much sleep-"

"-I know! The neighbors are so loud!" Mom laughed.

"Well, mom I'd love to talk to you longer but...I really should head over to grandma's. You know how she gets when I'm late!" I said and dashed out of the door.

"Well, it's about time!" Ashlyn, my BFF, complained.

"I didn't get to finish my homework! And you know how Grandma gets when she knows she is keeping me from doing my homework..." I sighed.

"Grace, your an only child so the business has to go to you!" Ashlyn said.

"No, you know I have cousins who really want the business! And everyone thinks I'm never going to do good, because I won't dedicate my time!" I continued.

"Fine. But, Grace, just remember...the only way to do good in life isn't through getting the family business," Ashlyn repeated my Mom's words.

"Yeah, I know...it is only through God." I smiled.
