Today I took a walk in a desert, in my mind Just me and the wolf, side by side, leaving our troubles behind. As we strode through the desert heat, the Devil arose from the ground, beneath our feet. He held out a glass of water to quench our thirst, then said "Ill give it you, but sell me your soul first." I smiled with cheer, and gladly accepted the deal. Wolf and I shared the water, our combined soul Beelz try to steal. But away with him, our spirit would not flee. He scratched his head confused, and looked at me. "What trick is this, what have you done?" I smiled at him and shook my head, answering at last..."None" I said, "Three times before Ive given of myself, Three times Ive tried taking love off the shelf. Ill tell you the story of these great gifts Then you'll know why you can't drag me through your rift." "The first woman I gave the gift of my life, To share with her forever as husband and wife. It is she who holds the largest part of me, and her on my arm that others will get to see." "The second woman, I gave my heart, This gift is gone, because she ripped it apart. I did not know she was a hunter too, But she must have been, because her skills were too true. You see, while in the middle of love and life, She had no problem stabbing me with her knife. I felt the blade's cold steel, slide into my back, And now my heart is mounted in her room, on a rack." "Now the third gift, Devil, I think you already know, for it is the reason that the wolf and I will not go. I simply cannot sell what isn't mine to give. For there is one who holds my soul, no matter how long she may live. Wait..that's not right, for even after her death, I will love her and serve till my last breath. We are two kindred spirits, lost, alone in time, Sometimes it is hard, for I am hers...but she will never be mine. Love is a wondrous thing, beautiful a thrill But this bond is something you could never steal.." When i finished speaking, the Devil turned around and walked away, There was no way he could beat me, the rules couldn't be swayed. As he watched, the Wolf looked at me and I gave him a wink, Then I knelt down, from the glass I gave him a drink.
