Mei sat down on the cold, stony staircase with a sigh. She glanced around at the village in the distance, barley visible through the trees. The cold air peirced through her shawl and she shuddered as footsteps crunched through the fallen leaves along the stony path. She looked up and saw someone in the distance. She prepared to bolt before suddenly realizing who it was.

"Finn!" She gasped, relief evident in her voice.

Finn quickened his pace before stopping in front of her and crouching down with a smile.

"Hey Mei!" He said "Have any new leads?"

"No," she muttered, "I don't have anything we don't already know."

Finn ran his fingers through his hair in frustration.

"This is really starting to feel like a dead end search."

"I know, I know!" Mei cried "But we have to keep looking! I won't stop until I know they're safe."

"Mei, they can take care of themselves. Im sure they're alright." He sighed. "I told you, we should just give it up."

Mei stood up, her cheeks turning red in emotion.

"I don't know why you're not more worried! They've been MIA for almost two years."

Finn stood up and placed his hand on her shoulder, before she quickly shoved it off.

"Mei, calm down-"

"Like hell I'll calm down! This is serious Finn! My sister is gone and I don't know where she is! Shes all I have left and shes gone." Her shoulders shuddered with repressed sobs.

"Why did you even come with me in the first place if you're not going to take this seriously?" She asked, her voice rising. "I thought they were your friends too."

"They are, but its been almost two years. Its a lost cause." Finn started trembling in anger. "And stop acting like you care about anyone but your sister. You dont care about Kaori or Hannah or Jack or any of them. You barely even knew them, so don't pretend that you care."

Mei stepped back, hurt and anger pulsing through her veins. How dare he suggest that she didn't care? Of course she did. Just because she barely met most of them before they went missing doesn't mean she didn't care. Right?

She clenched her fist and stepped forward, her voice getting dangerously loud.

"How could you say something like that? Of course I care! Which is why I did this in the first place!"

"Look I-I.... I can't talk to you when you're like this. Im just gonna g-"

Mei grabbed his sleeve.

"Like hell you're going! I need you with me! I wouldn't have gotten this far without you!"

Finn turned around.

"Mei... I- I'm sorry I just-"

"Shut up," she said, wiping away tears. "It doesn't even matter. This stupid fight isn't helping anything. We need to find them."

Finn slumped, pity evident in his eyes.

"Mei... You know they're probably-"

"Just... Just stop. I dont care and I don't want to hear it." She ran a hand over her face. "Besides, I doubt you can get home without me anyways."

A weary smile made it way across his face.

"You're not wrong there."

He wove an arm around her shoulders.

"Let's just go."

She sighed as they started walking.

"Yeah. Let's go."

Authors Note: Hey! I'm sorry for the quality of this, but I needed to practice my dialogue. I think it turned out okay, but I think it escalated and deescalated a bit too fast. I don't think thats entirely a bad thing though, because this is just practice. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed it! Have a good day!
