Emma Wilson, September 09, 2011 (5:20) I woke up, laying on a blue couch. In front of me was a fancy-looking coffee table. I sat up on the couch. I rubbed my eyes. On the coffee table was a TV that looked like it was from the 1970s or 1980s. "Mew." A gray kitten gave me a magazine that said, "SnowVille's Queen and King Found Deceased In The Palace Of Heart (1974)". I turned the first page. I read the page out loud: "While homicide detectives were on the 4th floor of The Palace Of Heart, they found the two dead bodies of Queen Rebecca and King Richard, which were found under the ceiling that fell on them. The homicide detectives have found out that Queen Rebecca and King Richard died from suicide." I continued, "We've also found this ball-shaped trinket made out of thin glass. Our homicide detectives have pieced it together for it to say in a fancy pink writing 'Heart'." The page displayed a picture of the trinket next to the paragraph I read. I turned to the next page, but there was no words. No pictures. I flipped through the pages. The rest of the pages were blank. "That's all?" I asked. "Weird." "Mew." The gray kitten gave me the same thing that was in the picture, except it didn't look brand new like it did in the picture. It looked older. I held it in my hands. The gray kitten head butted me. I felt the gray kitten purr. I put the trinket down on the coffee table so it wouldn't break. The kitten sat on my lap. "Aww," I said, smiling. I pet the kitten. "Emma," I heard someone call. "Wake up." It sounded like Leah. The kitten looked startled. The kitten looked up at me. "Mew." I heard the same voice call out again, "Emmmaaa!" I woke up and saw my sister, Leah. "Emma, you fell asleep while eating again!" She laughed. When I'm tired while eating food, I try to stay awake. But most of the time, I just give up and fall asleep. "Don't tell me you got mom to take a picture and put it on Facebook public. Because I hate it when you post pictures of me falling asleep while eating and then put it up for everyone to see." I said, agrivated and embarrassed at the same time. "Why would you think I would do that? You've already explained to me, mom, and dad a year ago that you hate us posting pictures of you online. Chill, Emma." I shifted my weight. "True, but, I've still got a feeling that you're still going to do it. I just feel it." Leah rolled her eyes. Sometimes, I feel like Leah is trying to act older than me. She also tries to make herself look like she's wearing a bra by putting something in her shirt where her chest is. I mean, usually, all little sisters try to copy you. So I guess it's normal. But, she wasn't born in our family. My mom adopted her a year ago and gave Leah our last name: Wilson. "Girls," my dad says, "We have some bad news." Oh, don't tell me; they probably ran out of gas! "We're stuck in traffic. It'll take a while." Well, that's not THAT bad. At least it isn't something like "Girls, we ran out of gas" or "Girls, we can't make it to SnowVille, it's too far". "Aww," my sister said, whining. "Hey, we'll probably still be able to get there." I said, trying to make her feel better. "But what if the car breaks down?" She said, worried. I said, "I doubt it. I bet we'll still be able to make it to SnowVille. Just will take a while, since we're in traffic." Leah sighed. "Maybe I should stop worrying about so much things." I chuckled. To me, it was cute when she said stuff like that. I got my iPhone out of my pocket. I turn it on and swipe the screen. I go to check my messages to see if my friends, or one of my friends, messaged me. I saw that Jessica had messaged me. "Hey Emma, how's the trip going?" The text read. I texted back, "Good, I guess. Right now, we're stuck in traffic 😕." "Wow, that's like one of the worst things to happen while going on a vacation. I feel so bad for you." "Don't worry about it." "Why? I bet the traffic's pretty big." "Just don't." Jessica changed the subject. "Anyway, I was gonna tell you about some people that texted me saying weird stuff about you." I texted back, "What did they say? 😖" "They told mwdfqeq;??:" I texted back again, "Jessica?" I waited, but she never answered. Weird. "Who you texting, Emma?" She leaned closer to get a look at my phone. I pulled my phone away. "Stop being so nosy." I said, annoyed. I just don't like it when she bugs me like that. "Jeez." Leah said, crossing her arms. The game that was on her iPad was her favorite game, Minecraft. It looked like she was playing on survival mode. 6:51 "Girls, we're here!" Mom said, excited. She got out of the car. I put my iPhone back in my pocket. Leah carried her iPad. We both got out. Mom opened the trunk for us to get our luggage. When Leah tried to get her luggage out, she seemed to have trouble because she was holding her iPad. "Need help?" I asked her. "Yeah." She handed me her iPad. She got the luggage out of the trunk, and it didn't even seem to bother her. I was surprised that she could get all that heavy luggage out of the trunk and she's only ten. "I'll hold that for you, 'hun." "'Kay." I hand Leah's iPad to her. "What is 'Kay'?" Mom asked."It's short for 'Okay'." I replied. "Hey Emma," Leah said, "I got your luggage for you." "Oh, thanks." I said, positively. "I'd figured it'd be too heavy for you, so I got it for you." She hands me my luggage. Dad looked up at the house, amazed. The house really did look magnificent. It looked more of the fancy kind. I got out my iPhone and took a picture. "Emma, put your phone away for now." Mom said. I turned off my iPhone and put it in my pocket. Leah gasped. She ran over to a pile of snow (close to the house) and picked some of it up. She looked at the snow in her hand. "Is this...." Leah said, her eyes widened. I smiled. "Yes, snow." I said, my smile growing bigger. "This...I've...never seen...this before!" Leah said, like she'd just won a lottery. I could tell by her face that for her it was a very strange event. She also looked amazed at the same time. "Mom, dad, Emma, c'mon! No time to waste!" Leah sounded excited to move into this house. I was, too. And I hope I can make this weekend special for her. -Emma Wilson
