Strokes of color covered the canvas. A song she had written herself played, it's sad tunes echoing in the room. Posters, drawn to perfection, hung on the wall. The bookshelf by the couch was full of books about magic, the one by the computer with ones of her own writing. It was all a perfect dream from last night. 

In reality, her posters were rough, her only supplies being old rags and coal, often burning hot, from the fire. Her tower was bleak, light only from the window. No furniture but some old wooden cooking supplies, and some hay for a bed. 

In her loneliness, she had created awards and gave them to herself. 

The large window had a view of the entire village-she could see the children, playing tag, flying, jumping off the sky village she lived in, for a swim, holding magma in their hands. 

They were all well-fed and happy, magic bursting from their fingertips. Voices floated to her expert hearing, along with the colors that accompanied it. 

She could go out, but hardly ever did. The children laughed at people like her. 

In a world where magic was everything, she had nothing. 

Not a single skill. Not a glow. Not a spirit animal. Not even a single... tiny... power. 

Empty. 

Nothing.

Meaningless.

Invisible. 

It really wasn't fair. 

For such a useless child, she had the capabilities of two magic ones. 

Strong. Smart. Humble. 

It couldn't be helped that her right leg was partially paralyzed, but with magic, she would have no trouble. 

She even had the looks of a powerful magician. 

She had drawn a poster depicticating the looks of most magicians compared to their skills.

She had Black hair and Green eyes- already a rare combo. Half of her right eye was a golden color which contrasted with the green rather nicely if anyone would ever bother to look. 

Obviously not, because if they did, she wouldn't be stuck in this tower.
