B. F. Skinner said, "The consequences of an act affect the probability of it occurring again."

Consequences can make a person's life either go in a negative or positive direction.

Positive::

If the right consequences are given, and the person is wise and reflective, there can be positive growth and learning.

He will continue progressing until his mind is changed, and elects to go the other way.
.
The Bible puts it this way:

"You will reap what you sow."

If you plant flowers, you won't harvest a crop of pumpkins. We each have a choice to sow good or bad things in our lives.

When negative seeds like hate are planted, violence and chaos result.

YOU WON'T GET THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT YOU PUT IN THE SOIL OF YOUR MIND AND HEART.

Negative:

If there are no meaningful consequences or they are absent altogether, the downward spiral will likely continue.

You can look at it in this way:

If you throw a stone at a target in the proper way, the result will be hitting it, unless it is deflected somehow.

If there are no corrective measures when wrong is done, we have anarchy. The recurring theme in the book of Judges in the Bible was

"Everyone did was right in his own eyes."

Sounds like what we are going through in our world today, doesn't it?

Fans at a game sometimes believe they can say whatever they want or act in any manner, just because they bought a ticket. Without proper consequences, this behavior will continue.

If a person drinks and drives, they are a danger to themselves and others. If caught doing this, what will they learn if their license is not suspended or some other meaningful punishment is given out? Will the judge wait until someone is terribly injured or dies before a strict penalty is given to them?

Action Points:

Which way is your life heading, positive or negative? One of the benefits of being close to God is he will turn the bad things you experience into good.

This has happened in my life, and it can also happen in yours.

ALL IT TAKES IS FAITH, TRUST, AND BELIEF.
