Book 1 Chapter 2: Wrong place, wrong time Leena's father barged into the door and slammed the door after hearing Leena scream. "LEENA! ARE YOU ALRIGHT?! WHAT HAPPENED?!" Leena's dad yelled in fear. Leena was hyperventilating and scared. "Talk to me. Did someone try breaking in through your window?" Leena's father asked. "No! It was the book! It started shining and like black fire blew up in the air and across the room!" Leena yelled. "You mean because you're actually reading and not being on your phone for the first time?" Her father asked sarcastically. "I'M SERIOUS! THERE WAS LIKE BLACK FIRE THAT SHOT OUT!" Leena yelled. "Well if you need us, we'll be finishing our movie." Leena's dad said as he closed her door laughing at his own joke. Leena sat there for a few minutes staring at the book that she dropped onto the floor until a female voice came from the book saying "open me". "Was. .was that the book? Am I going crazy? T-That couldn't be the book." Leena thought to herself. "Open me." The book repeated. Leena was terrified to open the book since it shot out lights and fire. "W-was that you?" Leena asked the book with a shaky voice. "Yes soon to be witch, it was I that spoke." The book said. "This has to be a prank with some type of microphone in there!" Leena thought. Leena opened the book looking for a microphone but instead found a beautiful black ring with gold on the rim and what seemed to look like black flames inside the ring moving around. "Woah. .this ring is beautiful." Leena said. "Place the ring on your left middle finger." The book said. "Uh okay I guess." Leena replied. Leena put on the ring and her whole left side of the body started heating up. "WHAT'S GOING ON?!" Leena yelled while she was panicking. "This'll only last a few seconds." The ring said. "WHAT?! NOW THE RING IS TALKING?! WHAT'S HAPPENING?!" A tear ran down Leena's face from the pain that was burning her. After the rain stopped, Leena took off her hoodie to see if her arm was okay. Leena's arm had what seemed to look like a tattoo of black flames running down from her left arm, left side of the stomach, and down to her left leg. "FINALLY I'M AWAKEN!" The ring yelled in excitement. "WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BODY!? WHAT'S GOING ON DAMMIT?!" Leena asked the ring while yelling. "LITTLE LEENA! YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN!" The ring yelled back. Leena tried removing the ring from her finger but it wouldn't even budge. "You can't take me off, silly. We are one now. You're now the Witch of Black Fire." The ring said. "A witch? Of black fire? What do you mean?" Leena asked the ring in a more calmed tone. "I know right now you're scared and think all this is a dream, but it isn't. I was sent here to you by someone that saw potential in you, saw that you'd make an interesting witch, and saw that you could make a good addition to a team." The ring said "Me? On a team? A witch? What do I do? Fight? Will I have an ability like the famous female kick boxer 'Black Rabbit' that went through a procedure that gave her rabbit abilities to kick faster and be faster? Whate side am I on? Good or bad?" Leena asked the ring with a confused face. "I can't go much into details or I'd spoil this for the readers(ba dum tss), but for now let me explain to you what this ring does. Once the wearer puts this ring on, they gain my power known as 'Black Fire'. Black Fire is the strongest fire and the fastest fire. However, just because it is the strongest and fastest, it doesn't gurantee you're strong. If you can't learn the spells or learn to use me in general, then we're both powerless. As for the markings on your body, I'm sorry but they're permanent. And you need not to explain who you are to me because the moment you put this ring on I got all the information about you." The ring said. "Like real fire? I can summon fire? As for the markings you don't need to apologize, I think they look like bad ass tattoos. You said I can learn spells right? Do I need to perform a ritual or something?" Leena asked. "The spells do not need rituals. But if you open the book, the book has sayings and body gestures you gotta perform to make the magic work." The ring replied. Leena picked up the book and began reading the tutorial part of the page. "So if I do thi–" Leena was saying before she got cut off mid sentence. "No! Not in here! A small spell like that could be dangerous in here! Let's go to the park." The ring said. "You're right. I'm sorry." Said Leena. As Leena headed downstairs her father asked "Going somewhere little one?" "Yeah I'm just gonna go to the park with a friend. I'll be back soon." Leena replied. "Alright, be safe out there! Love you munchkin!" "Love you too Dad!" Leena yelled as she closed the door shut. "This may be a weird question, but has any one else owned you before?" Leena asked. "Yes, I had one owner before you." The ring said. "Oh. What happened? Did you too like argue?" Leena asked. "No, it's more than that. I had one owner but she was killed by a group of bad guys that call themselves 'Pirates'. My master was a powerful witch but there was about 3 of them. They attacked us while we were on our way to her cabin in the mountains. All I remember was one of them was wearing a gas mask, one had a black bear mask, and what seemed to look like the leader had a clown mask that was smiling and she had long red pigtails. My master was fighting, and giving it her all. The sad part was that they felt no pitty. Even after slamming her into trees, tossing her around and breaking her bones, they didn't care. They kept hurting her till she got the ring loose off her finger. But she tricked em by casting a spell that sent me to someone that sent me to you." The ring said with a sad tone. "Oh. .I'm sorry about that. But why was I chosen? Aren't I gonna have bad guys coming for me?" Leena asked. "Possibly. That's why it is important I teach you everything you need to know because you never know when a Pirate is going to show up." The ring said. "Aren't you afraid? I don't feel your heart beating faster?" The ring asked. "I'm afraid that these people might show up but I guess I kind of accepted my fate when I put you on." Leena said looking at the ring. "Well we're at the park. Let's practice some magic." Leena said with a smile on her face. "So if I do this, I should–WOAH THAT WAS AWESOME!" Leena yelled as she sparked a black frame on her finger tips. "Okay I gotta admit. At first I thought this was a joke but that was crazy awesome!" Leena yelled excited. "I'm glad you're having fun. But since that was a tutorial spell, let's get started on a real spell. But be warned, the pictures show where the fire will be on your body when casting a spell. However, your body won't burn up so don't panic, okay?" The ring said. "I'll try not to. Spell #9: Hell's fire? Let's try this one." Leena said. "Leena, you really shouldn't start with such a higher spell. You should start with beginner level –" the ring was saying before Leena's leg flared with black fire and summoning fire from her leg that was spreading forwards in a line and rising up. "I see. This is why my first master chose you. You aren't a strong user yet, but you're already getting the hang of it." The ring thought to itself. "WOW! DID YOU SEE THAT?!" Leena yelled with excitement. "Yes I saw that and that was impressive. If you keep this up then no matter what comes at us we'll be able to destroy em." The ring said. Before Leena began to cast a third spell, her phone began to ring and Leena picked it up. "Hey Baby, I just wanted to let you know that your father and I are going downtown. Would you like to come with us? We can stop by and pick you up." Leena's mom asked. "I'd love to hangout with you guys but I'm with my friend." Leena replied. "Okay baby girl, have fun. We'll be home at 11pm. Be safe!" Her mom said before hanging up. Leena was practicing a few beginner spells before heading home. When Leena got home, she ate steak her dad made and went to take a shower. "Uh. .does this mean you're going to watch me shower?" Leena asked the ring. "Well you can't take me off! Don't worry I won't look!" The ring said. "AND HOW WILL I KNOW IF YOU'RE LOOKING OR NOT?!" Leena yelled nervously. Leena grabbed a small towel and strapped it around her ring. "That should do it." Leena laughed. After her shower, Lenna tuned into the news channel. "Live on danger news 7! There has been an attack in downtown long beach! It appears we have about 3 in critical condition and 6 dead. The police are here now but it seems that not one citizen saw the attacker." The news reporter said. "Downtown? That's where mom and dad are at!" Leena yelled as she ran down the stairs heading towards her door to run to downtown long beach. "A killer? A killer that killed 6 people and didn't get caught? Can it be?! They're already here looking for Leena?!" The ring Thought to itself. To be continued Chapter 3: Message 5/26/2018
