When I was a child, my parents once told me while pointing at the garbage collector outside of our house. "If you don't study hard you will be working just like these guys, do you want to be that kind of person? Walk around houses and collecting garbage?". I, of course as a child, answered 'No' because I was afraid of failing, failing my tests and end up becoming just like the garbage collectors.
Now, currently in my teenage year, realise that this kind of wording shouldn't be spoken to the children. They will end up looking down on the workers, they will keep reminding themselves that they won't fail and end up walking around houses collecting other people's trash. They will use these people as an example of what failure looks like. Which is entirely not true at all, because they are still contributing to society and still has a life to live. Perhaps they are supporting their family, or themselves. Until now I keep hearing some parents around me that failure equals to garbage collectors, and I can accept that they are worried about their children and wish to have a good and successful life, but to describe failure by using other people's career as an example?
