"Love is blind" and "That crazy thing called love". I'm pretty sure all of us have heard these two phrases before. The first one, about love being blind, it is pretty much to explain how we humans can sometimes be blinded by what's in front of us when we are in love. For example, we could be in a really toxic relationship with a really toxic partner but because we are blinded by our feelings of love, we continue to stay in the relationship with that person even when we are miserable. Which then brings to the second phrase of love being crazy. We humans tend to do some foolish things when we are in love. Again, it is due to us being blinded by the feelings of love that no matter how foolish or crazy we behave, it kind of justifies the behavior because apparently when people are in love they can't think straight. But what if there is another logical explanation why love is blind and why people in love are crazy? Check out the story below and try to imagine the possibility. A long time ago, before the world was created and humans could set foot on it, Virtues and Vices floated around aimlessly, not quite knowing what to do. One day, all of them gathered together, bored out of their mind. They were dying for something to do to kill the monotony. Suddenly, Ingenious came up with an idea. "Let's play hide and seek!" Everyone liked the idea and immediately, Madness shouted, "I want to count! I want to count!" Since nobody was crazy enough to want to seek Madness, all the others agreed. Madness leaned against a tree and with his eyes closed, he started counting, "One, two, three...." As Madness counted, the Vices and Virtues ran off to look for places in which to hide. Tenderness, hung itself on the horn of the Moon, while Treason, hid in a pile of garbage. Fondness, curled up between the clouds and Passion, went to the centre of the Earth. Lie, said that it would hide under a stone, but hid at the bottom of the lake instead. Whilst Avarice, entered a sack of potatoes that he ended up breaking. Meanwhile, Madness continued to count out loud, ".... 79, 80, 81...." By then, all the Vices and Virtues were well hidden except for Love. Fickle as Love is, he could not decide where to hide. And this should not come as a surprise because we all know how difficult it is to hide Love. Anyway, Madness continued to count, ".... 95, 96, 97...." And just when he got to 100, Love jumped into a rose bush. Madness then turned around and shouted gleefully, "Ready or not, here I come!" Laziness, was the first to be found because he was just too lazy to find a place to hide. Then Madness spotted Tenderness on the horn of the Moon, Lie at the bottom of the lake, and Passion, at the center of the Earth. One by one, Madness found them all, except for Love. Madness scurried around in search of Love but still he couldn't find him. He was getting desperate. Envious of Love, Envy whispered to Madness, "He is in the rose bush." With a menacing grin on his face, Madness looked around him. He spotted a wooden pitchfork, grabbed it and started stabbing wildly at the bush. He jabbed and stabbed until a heartbreaking cry made him stop. Love came out from the bush with both hands covering his face. Blood oozed from his eyes and trickled down his fingers. Madness had stabbed out Love's eyes with the pitchfork! Oh no! Looking at the blood, Madness panicked. "What have I done? What have I done?!" Madness screamed. "Oh Love, I have blinded you! How can I repair the damage?" Love answered, "You cannot repair my eyes but if you really want to do something for me, you can be my guide." And so it came about from that day on, Love is blind and is always accompanied by Madness. I don't know about you, but for me, I think there's logic in this theory. What do you think?
