Sub Category : Thriller
Rookie training is finally over. I am ready for my first official Crow mission. The murder of Senator Taurus doesn't count. Let's see what Cuffs has for me.

It has been three months since the inauguration ceremony. I have been accepted and have been training in the ways of the mafioso spy. Hirori has been the perfect teacher teaching me anything and everything I needed to know. At first we clashed because I only saw him as a brute for applying the brand to my now scarred shoulder blade but now I see that was just his role here. Everyone has a role. I know I am a spy but past that I do not know what my role in this family is.

Everyday I meet new people, new names. If that's what you want to call thrm anyway. Nobody used their names here. Nobody knew my name, as I knew nobody elses. I was told it is that way so in case a "double agent" infiltrated our ranks. Smart, but because of this law I sometimes thought I truly was named Dark. I knew every one of the spy corps agents as I had been training and dorming with them all. Crow kept all sanctions seperate though it really was only that way for training and sleeping, when we did sleep anyway.
There was Hirori, he head spy and trainer. Sadist, the spy who has been known to kill even against orders when things started going south. There are many others but these two and Angel, the spy who was named so simply because of her beauty, have been the most influential thus far.

I became quick friends with Angel the day I started training. Hirori was teaching me basic stealth practices and exercises but I zoned out. All I could see was this dark skinned sun kissed beautiful being standing across the room. Hirori called me back to attention.

"Damn it Dark, pay attention. A spy can die if they are found during a mission."

"Sorry sir I was just-" I looked back but she was gone. Suddenly I heard an angelic voice whisper in my ear behind me.

"Don't worry sweetheart, I have that effect on people, but it's usually the guys." It said.

Spinning around I saw her up close. I turned back to Hirori.

"Nice of you to join us Angel." He said. "Now please don't distract the newcomer."

"Whatever you say, I'll teach her more than you could in a week anyway but you're the boss." She chuckled sitting down and putting her feet up on the desk next to me. It was obvious they were close, I felt myself yearning to be accepted in the group even more. I knew however, that had to be earned.

Angel and I had been summoned to the mission room to meet Tank. Who was in charge of distributing jobs. When we got there I could see why he was called that. His stature was that of a bodybuilding champion, quite intimidating and I probably would have been if he hadn't spoken.

"Thank you for coming." He squeaked.

I couldn't hold in my laugh.

Angel stepped in.

"She doesn't know you yet Tank don't take it personally. You know you don't have an intimidating voice."

Tank made a noise I can only assume to be a grunt.

"Anyway as you know we have been targeting the local general but he keeps being saved by an unknown doctor. I need you two to find him." He said pulling out a file. "This is all we know."

Angel grabbed the file and read it.

"He's on the base itself? You sure we should send her? You knowhow dangerous that is and it is her first mission after all." Her concern seemed genuine.

Tank sighed.

"I made the same arguement but Cuffs word is final."

"Trial by fire. I'm in." I responded. Angel's head dropped. Did I do something wrong?

When we left the room, it was a silent walk to the great room. I finally decided to ask her what I had been dreading since I witnessed her reaction.

"Was I wrong to accept that job?"

Angel stopped walking.

"Only time will tell, but honestly you didn't have a choice but before you there was another Dark. Best spy we ever had. He went to the base on a mission and was caught by General King. His head was found three days later on public square." She confided. She seemed hurt reliving that memory.

"I am so sorry, were you close?" I asked?

Her blank expression was only broken by a single tear running down her cheek. I could practically see the flashbacks in her eyes.

"We don't get too close to anyone here. It's part of the job. We are friends, associates, and family, but any of us could be gine in a minute." She finally said. "Don't get too attached to anyone."

Entering the great room I saw some familiar faces but we walked past them all and to the gear up area. After we got our uniforms on and our equipment prepped we decided that night would be when we took off.

"For now lets eat, nothing will give you away like an empty stomach." Angel said. She appeared to have fully restored her demeanour.

We left to the dining hall and sat with Hirori and Proxy.

"Where's Mello?" Angel asked.

"Getting her meal still. So picky sometimes." Proxy stated.

"So do you guys know?" Angel asked.

"Yes, and I am not happy about it. She's not ready for this mission." Hirori stated matter of factly. Like he knew I was there and wanted me to know but wanted to make a point. "I can't lose another spy, not one with such potential."

"Guess we should have seen this coming. Somebody had to finish this mission." Proxy continued.

Mello came back to the table.

"Can you believe that guy? Honestly I only wanted-" She saw me. "Oh hey kid, you ready for this?"

"Guys I can do this, really. You all taught me everything I know." I said trying to sound confident.

"I hope so." Mello said. "You do this and Frosty can finally get his revenge."

"Who's Frosty?" I asked.

"Frosty is our number one hitman. He was also the first Dark's best friend." Hirori answered. "He got his name because he is our ice man. You need a trigger pulled and he gets it done no questions asked."

"Why haven't I met him?" I asked.

"Don't take it personally, he just doesn't like the fact that you inherited Dark's name." Angel said to me with a hand on my shoulder. Proxy nodded.

"She doesn't deserve the name." I heard behind me. I spun and saw a tall man with a blood red ginger goatee standing there. "Dark was twice the spy she will ever be."

Silence from the rest of the group.

I stood up.

"Don't underestimate me. You will all get your information." I put my finger on Frostys chest. "And you." I said sternly, "will get your revenge."

He chuckled. "Fiesty, but we will see." With that he walked away.

Sitting back down everyone look astonished.

"What?" I asked.

"He," Proxy started to say.

"He chuckled." Mello finished equally shocked. "We haven't heard any emotion out of him in a long time."

"Well you made him a promise." Angel said. "Let's finish our meal and fulfill it."

We ate the last of our food casually chatting as if nothing had just happened. But inside I knew what was coming, what I had garunteed, I had to follow through or who knows what would happen to me, at the base, or worse, here.
