There once was this guy who was climbing up the side of a mountain. A long the way he came across a snake.
The snake spoke to him and asked if he would pick him up and carry him to the top of the mountain. 
The man said no, the man explained that if he picked up the snake, the snake would bite him and he would probably die.
The snake promised the man that he would not bite him and he would be very grateful for the favor.
So the man picked up the snake and carried the snake to the top of the mountain. When they got to the top, the snake bit him.
The man who was very upset and in danger of dying, said to the snake. You promised me you would not bite me.
The snake said, you knew what I was when you picked me up.
