There's not any excuse for an adult to settle for medicority. At some point, you have to realize that you're not reaching your true potential because of you. I don't care how hurtful or disturbing the situation was.....as a grown up you must release the past. Please let it go! And it's for one simple reason: the past has already released you. Move on. A few more things, learn from your mistakes, forgive every single person who has wronged you (whether they apologized or not), learn a new and positive thing, brush your shoulders off, and change your life. It's your responsibility. The longer you wait to accept this, the longer you will have to walk around the same mountain. I have never heard of anyone who got excited, prepared, and dressed to walk around a mountain. Conquer your mountain(s). It's not that your goals are too high, it's that you have not put in an adequate amount of work for the success you're reaching for. For example, you're reaching for a position in leadership but you don't care to develop a positive rapport with with your colleagues and other people who you don't feel can add to your success. If you were given a leadership title tomorrow, your feelings of success would be short lived because you never made it a goal to be a humble servant. You only made it a goal to hold the title of a leader but not to have the heart of one.
