Eight More Lives - The Deal Read Count : 73

She sits upon the oak-like plastic chair. Her matching hair's strands flow over her shoulders. Her darkened pits of eyes scan the pile of words. Her almost sickly-pale skeleton hands turn the pages of the contract, stopping at the X at the very bottom.

"So?" The Devil looks over his desk at her. "Sign it, you get eight more lives. Don't, and you join me for eternity. It's your choice."

She looks at her name before the X. In big font: "I, Cathandra Emma Pavost, agree to all terms in this contract." If she signs, there's no going back.

His toothy grin widens. She thought about how weirdly human he is; he has pale skin, greying hair and wears a back suit-and-tie. Though, she noted, he does look practically like a bag-o-bones. He motions his twigs at a door towards the left. "You only get one choice. Leave or stay."

She shakily picks up the pen. Odd, she also thinks, that it's just a regular black ball-point pen. She plays with it in her fingers for a second. Just a couple more days to say she loves her family, she thought. Then, she what she was told to never do; she made a deal with the devil.

He smirks. "Close your eyes."

After she hesitantly closed her eyes, wind started to spiral around her and lifted her up. She equated it to a hurricane, though she's never seen one in person. Cathandara's entire body felt cramped, like a car was squishing her (even though she has also never felt that in person).

"Don't open your eyes, Cat." His voice boomed.

And so she opened her eyes.

Her arms were getting covered in thick white fur. Her legs as well. And her limbs were getting shorter. She tried to yell for him to stop, but nothing but a meow came out.

She tried to cover her mouth quickly with her newly-formed paw, trying to spiral away from whatever this was. However, the wind kept her in the air while she spun. A final crack snapped in her ear before she fell onto all fours. He smiles as the door to the left swings open.

"Go on, Cat. Eight more lives left."
