Rafe's p.o.v.

This feeling of loss lurks within the dark corners of my mind and I'm not necessarily sure where it came from. I'm unsure of myself in a way I didn't used to be. Sometimes I feel a spasm of pain in my chest and I have to fight myself just to contain it.

Sometimes I find myself wandering the woods late at night looking for someone that's never there. I don't know who I'm looking for or why, all I know is that she's on the other side of the river and I need to get to her.

Most of the time if I'm not pondering my existence, I'm trying to figure out how to cross the river to get to her. The sad truth is I'll never find a way and deep down I know it. But what truly disgusts me is the fact that I can only remember two things. One my name is Rafe, and two I'm dead.

We call ourselves the outcasts. Those who are unloved, unwanted, and ultimately died alone, become one of us. We seek affection and other people's approval on a daily basis. But alas we can never find anyone to please.

But what hurts me the most is the fact that I know how every single outcast died. Every outcast except for me, And some of them don't even know they're dead. They think they're alive and trapped in a strange dream and I don't even have the heart to tell them that they died alone and cold drinking away their sorrow's.

It's not like it matters much anyway. We outcasts rarely speak amongst ourselves, we're only here for one purpose. To find and comfort the seer.

Those of us who make it to the seer are the lucky ones. Those are the ones who truly get a second chance at life, and the sad thing is none of us know where she is.

So while I was lieing on the cold uneven dirt floor of the woods mulling over these thoughts my mind suddenly flashed blinding color behind my eyelids. The pain was tremendous and excruciating. But the most amazing thing about this was I remembered something from my past. Something that will give me the key to the seer's heart.
