...She took off her backpack and sat down, she opened her backpack and took out a notebook, and a pen, she opened up the and began to write. I tried to go back to reading my magazine, but I just couldn't take my eyes off of this young lady, her beauty was just mesmerizing. I guess she felt me looking into her soul (chuckles) because she took her attention from whatever she was writing, and look over to me, I quickly darted my head down, focusing my eyes back to the article I'd been reading before she came to my table, I peeked back up to see if she was still looking, but she was back writing in her notebook. And like some kinda weirdo, my ass started staring at her again. She looked back up and once again, I looked back down to my article, this time I waited a few seconds, and when I looked back up, she was still looking at me, I kinda gave a lil embarrassed smile, and looked back to the article. I then heard that lovely voice again.
"You're reading an article on Dirk Durham?" I looked up to see her beautiful smile, as I responded. "Uh, yeah... Feature article in this month's Mic Check." I said with a bit of a tremble in my voice. She not removing that gorgeous smile form her face "I love Dirk Durham. I got four of his albums, I love the message that he sends... I also like the way he shouts out "Dirk Durham!" on a lot of his songs. She giggled saying that, and I swear her laugh damn near made me shrink into my seat. Pretending that I wasn't melting inside from this young lady's presence, I said to her "Yeah, I like that lil catchphrase myself, when he does that you know he bouta bring fire." I laughed a little after saying that, I really don't know why, probably because while on the outside I seemed confident, but on the inside, I was nervous as hell! "I really loved his song, "Tears of a Soldier", he went off on that one." she said to me still wearing that beautiful smile. "Yeah it's like he went to outer space with on that track, it was too sick!" I responded. I found myself loosening up a bit, the nervousness I had before was slowly going away. This girl was extremely beautiful, but seemed so down to earth, talking to her was like talking to one of the homies. "So what other music or artists do you like?" I asked as I smiled at her. "Well, I like Erykah Badu, India Arie, Luther Vandros, I like Pac, a few others. I'm into most of the old school music, I like a few of the current crop of talent, but it's kind of slim." she told me with a smile before she continued on. "What about you, who else do you like?"
"Surprisingly, I'm the same way when it comes to music, I'm more into old school hip hop, and 90s R&B, the only true favorite I have though is Dirk Durham." I responded to her, as I took a sip of my coffee...
