On my trip to the beach with my two girlfriends a couple of years ago, it rained when we arrived. It was the monsoon season and a trip to the beach was not really a wise choice but I needed to get away from the city even if it was just for the day. I needed a change of scenery, a change of pace, and more importantly, I needed some room and a neutral place to think. The weather that day was a match to my mood and spirit - dark and gloomy.

When the rain finally stopped, CC and I made our way down the beach. There were not many people there but I could hear squeals of laughter coming from the kids who were splashing about in the sea. I stood on the shore watching them and I couldn't help but smile at the joy shown on their faces. The tide was low at that time and I couldn't help comparing it to the way I was feeling - low.

As I walked along the beach deep in my thoughts, I began to look around, hoping for some sign, some clue, something that would or could help me get out of the dark funk I was in. I looked up to the sky and it was a dull gray with full black clouds looming, a promise of more rain to come. I looked further in the horizon and saw a break in the clouds, showing a faint light of the sun, and I smiled. I then casted my eyes to the small rolling waves racing each other to reach the shore as if each wave was trying to outdo the other to see who can go the furthest and get the closest to the shore. The size of the wave didn't matter for what mattered was the driving force and the determination to conquer the feat. Again, Ismiled.

I saw a lot on my short visit to the beach that day.... and i learned a lot about myself too. I had allowed external influence get to me which had totally messed up my head. My bad. I lost sight on a lot of things and even came very close to losing myself. But that short time I spent walking on the beach helped to put things back into place for it made me look at things in a different light - through the eyes of Love.
