Kitten Read Count : 120

Sub Category : Adventure
There was once a small kitten, who was born on the streets. He had nothing. Nothing but his mother.

She cared for him.
She fed him.
She cuddled him.
She loved him.

"I'm hungry ma!" He complained loudly.
She looked at him, licked his nose, and went to hunt. He watched her as she dissapered under all the cars and trash. Once he could no longer see her, he went and layed down in the warmest corner of their den, falling asleep in minutes.

Hours later, he woke. He raised slowly, yawning. It was dark out.
Hmm...

Odd.

He was confused as to why his mother hadn't returned. He decided to find her.

Hours after hours he searched. Nothing.
Not a trace...
A trace.

He was about ready to give up when he spotted her golden yellow tail under the moonlight. He immediately raced over, almost as immediately stopping himself from going any further.

No...

Blood splattered the grey pavement ground, shimmering, and reflecting the silver full moon. He slowly crawled over, cold blood under his paws, causing a small flinch. His paws staining dark red. He cuddled next to her, his once white belly and paws and golden face and back was now dyed a dark red. Her body and face were almost completely mangled, her fur clumping from the clotting blood.

2 weeks later, he was still finding it hard to hunt. He didn't know where prey liked to hide, what it liked to eat, or how to pounce correctly. He was living off of small scraps he found in the trash. Then, it started raining. It started out with a small sprinkle, which didn't bother him to much, but evolved into very heavy showers, soaking him. He ran to take cover under some trash, but he ended up waiting there for hours. Hour after hour, the water rose and rose, up to cover up his paws, and he was forced to climb into a trash can. He waited there, but the rain didn't stop. It started flooding heavily.

Very heavily.

After hours of sitting uncomfortably in the trash, he realised the trash can was higher off the ground, floating through the water actually! He must've been to busy searching for scraps, he hadn't eating much since his mom died- which had already been 2 weeks. He started panicking, he was floating! He stared at the flood waters, only a few feet underneath him. The trash can floated all the way to an apartment complex, where he noticed the porches where high, and not flooding. He took a leap of faith into the flood waters, and grabbed onto the first porch he could. He was cold, hungry, and exhausted. He watched the rain become lighter and lighter, but before it stopped he fell asleep.

He woke up when he was plucked from the ground by his scruff. He noticed the rain had stopped, but when he tried to get away he only hurt himself. He noticed a human was the one who picked him up off their porch. He really don't know what to think of them, until they threw him in a garbage bag and tied it. He started panicking and crying loudly, he didn't know why they did this to him but he wanted freedom. He tried making a hole, but he only ended up getting his claw stuck. He started swaying side to side, giving him butter flies, but then he flew through the air and there was a loud "SPLAT" sound. He cried and cried. He could hear the flood waters around the trash pile. He couldn't escape, he could just cry. Suddenly, the bag ripped open! A hand reached him and pulled him free. He was scared but curious. He didn't know weather to try and escape or to stay calm. Well, it was too late now because they has pulled him close. He was cold and wet, hungry and tired. They pulled him closer and he felt the warmth of their body. He felt safe with them. He didn't want to run. They took him into their car and drove him home holding him close all the way. They took him inside, and gave him a nice meal in a warm. Comfortable bed. Finally, after all this time, he felt safe.

He ate all his food and fell asleep in minutes.
