When February came singing after the death of January 
Nancy wambui was born ,all that her parents could say
Was cursed be this day
That has brought another mouth into this poor house 
And they were confident that she was an accident 

Nancy wambui was a bright girl
She was a thermos flask of knowledge 
She topped her class with ease 
While paying no coin as fees
Because her teachers were determined 
To see her suicide 
Her father could come home drunk 
Everyday
While her mother cooked and hooked men
With the local brew


Nancy wambui got admitted ,to the top school of her choice
Then fell the bombshell ,
Where was she to get money to pay the school fees 
Her school demanded ?
We stood and looked at her
We saw her featherless body, frustrated 
Because she had no wings
Wings to fly high to the sky
Her face so shy
We're we to see her dreams shuttered
No way! 


Nancy wambui was considered 
As the best of them all
In the region and beyond
Nancy wambui got the letter 
As a scholar in the Harvard 
She studied Medicine 
And become a doctor

Years later, when she was now elegant and posh
Her parents were now confident
That she was not an accident
