Bevreli saw Tobias close his eyes and shouted “No not now, not like this!” She dragged his body through the rain and limbs, finding shelter under a hemlock tree. It felt dry under the needles of the many branches above and Bevreli knew that Tobias needed a fire now or else he would die, but the rain needed to clear up. She looked on the ground to try to find something to start a fire with but there was nothing. She hugged Tobias to keep him warm, causing her to shiver from his cold body but she didn't care, she only needed to wait for the storm to pass and she could find something. Hours passed but the storm still raged as she saw lightning in the distance and heard the thunder that followed with a loud bang, deafening her. What felt like an entire day, the storm had finally secluded back into hiding. She came out from under the tree and her foot sunk into the ground with every step. She looked up into the sky, to see a rainbow and prayed that Tobias would be okay. After that, she sprinted to any spot that looked dry and tried to find anything that could start a fire. She found a flint and some dry twigs and dead grass. She grabbed a handful and ran sprinted back to Tobias. When she got back, his breathing was shallow. She made a nest out of the grass and used her axe to try to spark the flint. “Come on,” she repeated with every strike getting frustrated that there weren’t any sparks, causing her to hit her index finger and creating a gash but she continued. After minutes of failure, there was a spark, that provided hope for her. She repeated what she did and she created a flame. She provided twigs and could feel the heat from the fire. She. Propped Tobias up onto the trunk of the tree and felt some heat surge through his cold body. Bevreli started to cry and through the tears, she said “Thank you.”
