She broke down and cried during the night. Even though Lex still refused to sleep next to her. Maybe it was because he refused to sleep next to her. It made him angry. He caused this. What he didn't want to be. It wasn't the Wolf that caused all of this pain. It was the man. The Wolf was strong, dangerous and clever but it could never hurt someone like being human did. It could never hurt someone on the inside. Lex had pondered for a long time about what exactly made him change back into a human. He would happily stay in his Wolf form forever. He could never however get over the pull of emotions he felt inside. Emotions the Wolf didn't understand. Emotions that burnt the Wolf which caused him to transform back. Overthinking was Lex's worst enemy. And he couldn't control it. His heart broke listening to her sobbing, his chest tightened listing to her snuffling and his throat became dry holding back his own tears. He never meant to hurt her. He never could hurt her. But he was. He was hurting her. He couldn't do anything about it however. He could do nothing about destiny and he couldn't disappear because that would put her in even more danger than being with him. Lex didn't know what to do. He couldn't sleep or eat and that clouded his judgement even further. He needed someone to help him and he knew Boh was the man. His Beta was his best friend. "Boh" Lex said tiptoing through the lonely corridor. Boh appeared and smiled at Lex "at your service Alpha," "Ergh, don't call me that," Lex told him. "A little too clinical isn't it," Boh laughed as Lex pulled away from his title. Boh knew why Lex was here and what he wanted to say, he didn't need him to wait to say it. "You can keep her and start a pack war, you can send her away and start a pack war, you have to decide if we are strong enough to fight," Boh told Lex but he didn't like what he had said, even if he knew it was true. "All for a young women," Lex muttered and Boh shook his head, moving closer to his best friend "she's not simply a young women, she's an Alphas mate, she was chosen for you," "Chosen to cause me a world of pain," Lex told Boh. Boh looked over to his room, knowing his beautiful wife would be peacefully asleep, carrying his child in her perfect baby bump. They were his world. And he was sad that Lex couldn't have that with her. Lex seemed to know what Boh was thinking. He knew that Boh felt his pain. "Why don't you try getting to know her? Forget about April. She was everyone's shining light but after eight months everyone has had to move on. You need to do the same Lex, before another Alpha starts sneeking around and someone else gets hurt," Boh instructed his friend. He knew everything that had happened between Lex and April and his new mate and he didn't want to hurt Lex's feeling but Boh needed security. Lex understood and knew Boh wasn't being selfish. He had a family to think about and so did Lex. The whole pack depended on him. She depended on him. He was going to learn to love her and he needed to start today. Lex sighed and wondered back to the room he was supposed to share with April. She had slept in his bed now for nearly a year. Her beautiful ice blond hair and blue eyes, at harmony with his light brown hair and green eyes. He lent on the door frame and smiled at her. She was beautiful, but it upset Lex thinking that. She was only sixteen and he hated that. He was twenty six and found the ten year age gap too much. Would he feel the same when she was twenty and he was thirty, probably not. He walked over and cilmbed into bed. Pulling the quilt back over her so she was warm. She cried herself to sleep, her cheeks were still cold, her body still scrunched up and pillow still wet. Lex knew he had to be a better mate. Waking up the next morning, he knew he could try and he set up to go walking with her. Lex knew if him and Destiny put the past behind them, they could start again and he knew he would like that. With her seventeenth birthday coming up, he was starting to feel less sickened by the age gap between them. He had watched her grow over the last year, he watched her mature and he liked the women she was slowly becoming. The only problem being that the man Lex is, isn't a good man but a brilliant Wolf. And that was a recipe for romantic disaster. Especially during a full moon. He slowly walked towards her, tapping her a on shoulder. She didn't jump as she sensed him coming. She span around and smiled at him. A smile that made him melt. Destiny then took his hand and walked with him outside. They walked along the river and into the woods. "I haven't been fair to you either, you enjoy your Wolf and I haven't given mine a chance. If you're going to make an effort to please me by listening to me read and giving me my space, I need to show you, I can indulge in your interests too," she told him and he smiled. He knew she had matured but this was a whole different kind of understanding and it pleased him that she was ready to get to know the better side of him. She transformed, running away from him playfully. He wasted no time in transforming and bolting after her.
