The Probelm I Have With Lazy Horror Writing

I have a huge problem with the horror genre :/ Im so sick of seeing 'monster' movies. This includes slasher flicks, Boogeyman type monsters or paranormal shit. I know some element of horror that lies in the imagination. Yet, Thinking up these weird and grotesque looking monsters, to me, is lazy. Movies like Split, Antichrist, The Exorcist, Babadook all have real world horror themes in them like abuse, depression, torture and violence. THATS what horror is to me anyway! In a way the horror that we see in slasher or monster movies like Alien, Predator, The Thing, Jason, Freddie is just.....boring.
