Happily last night, early I closed my eyes
Thinking to sleep but to my suprise.
There he stood majestic and tall,
Hair course and black, eyes large and red,
It is he, who every night, causes my dread.
The great steed of horror and death
A true Night Mare, breathing out suffering with every breath.

But he left me alone night before last.
So I thought my sleep would be well, aghast
I could not have been more in the wrong
As it seems this was his plan all along.

For joining him on that evil ridge overlooking my mind
Was a whole herd of Nightmares, black, red and every kind.

They charge, coming at a break neck pace
I turn to flee, but ill never win this race.
Catching me in a cloud of dust, a thundering
Giving me visions so bad, my mind starts wondering.

The images are horrible, terrible and sad
Some fill me with grief, while some just make me mad.
But the worst are the ones taken from my mind
Memories of old, thought to be left behind.
I cant don this, cant take it anymore,
Ive got my gun, tomorrow theyll find me on the floor.

Pistol too my head, all over soon,
But wait, in the distance, howling at the moon!
My Wolf, the one who dwells deep inside,
Coming to my rescue, filling my heart with pride.
Here he comes stong and true,
And behind him, I see he brought friends too!

Our bodies collide, and spirits unite, turning now to put up a fight.
We stave off the Mares, by the rising of the sun
And then together we go on a victory run.

But here is the worst part of the night,
He must stay here, and continue the fight.
Always locked deep in my soul
Ready when the Nightmares toll.

I wake in a pool of sweat and tears
Trembling from facing my fears.
But my wolf knew exactly how to win
And every night he does it over and over again.
