Chapter Three.
The Queen sat delicately in her thrown, tucking her dress underneath her and then looking adoringly at her aging King. We all bowed in front of him and he gestured for us to rise.
“Come closer,” He said to me, smiling as I stepped towards him, Airyck stepped towards him with me and Acker snigger “No need to be protective,”
“Clearly there is if even you can’t behave,” Airyck snapped back at him, turning to look at his brother, it was a warning. The King ignored the brothers, he held my hand, pulling me close to him and looking into my eyes. Stroking his hand through my hair, he nodded, producing a beautiful purple flower from his hand and saying, “My grandmother was a Wizard, she was intelligent, witty and strong, if you are half the women she was, and I am sure you are all of that and more, then you will be a perfect Queen to match Airyck’s kind and charming nature,”
“Well now the half breed is welcome, I am going to work,” Acker said, both Airyck and Ada gave him a sharp look, but the King simply laughed.
“No, you aren’t,” the King told Acker in a sharp tone, he looked over as Airyck hugged me, pulling me close to his body protectively. The King got up, walking towards his other son and Acker stood up straight.
“You need a mate also,” The King told him “you are all to portal to the elder’s chamber and Acker will see the love judge,”
“Come on brother,” Airyck said smugly to his younger brother, holding my hand and walking away. Ada followed quickly, and Acker eventually joined us. I wasn’t excited, last time I had been to see the elders, it was because of my heritage, they wanted to see if I was still compatible to live in the waterfall village or not. They let me stay but only until a mate was picked for me, that is why I ended up with an Elf.
We easily travelled there with Airyck’s magic, Ada shook her head as we emerged at the other side, putting her head up and saying, “If they even ask,”
“We tell them you’re a lesbian?” Acker laughed, tucking her hood into her neck so nobody could see her face.
“We tell them you’re not you,” Airyck said, trying to stop his brother from winding up his already aggravated sister.
We entered the office, Acker went up to the desk and explained our business her, the receptionist nodded and gave him a number. 47 was written on the paper. We sat in the waiting room, it was full of different creatures and someone caught my eye. I tucked myself into Airyck, hiding from the only person I didn’t want to see.
“The room stinks of him,” Airyck told me as he realised what I had. Lucas looked in our direction, sniffling the air but we were covered by Acker’s wide fame for the moment. “He looks awful,” Airyck said shocked at the Alphas broken exterior.
“And I look fresh faced,” I sighed, looking away “what does that say about me?”
Airyck was about to say something but for a reason he didn’t, I hadn’t realised but the Alpha was now in front of me, looking toward him, I chocked, not knowing what to do.
“Did you even think about me once?” He growled but it wasn’t well received by the Elves. They all started to fidget, he couldn’t take all three of them unless he transformed. I nodded, trying not to break, I didn’t want to see him in pain.
“Don’t you just look the part,” he told me, looking at my dress and hair.
“Yes, she does,” Airyck said, standing and holding his hand out for a hand shake. Lucas laughed, pushing his hand away and Airyck shrugged.
“Lucas don’t be unreasonable,” I muttered, trying not to be mad at him.
“Unreasonable is you being given to them, you were just handed to them, one of our most powerful shifters, a prize for the best warriors in the kingdom,” Lucas snapped, looking at Ada and Acker, who scowled at him.
“I’m not a prize,” I growled, getting annoyed and not being able to hold it anymore.
“That’s better, you haven’t turned soft yet,” Lucas laughed, I stood up and pushed him.
“Don’t,” I said but the growling that was coming from me vibrated the room. I controlled myself, looking at him and saying, “I hope she’s worth this,” before storming out of the room. I began to panic, feeling flustered and angry.
“Lola,” Ada said looking concerned. I grabbed her and suddenly we were in the waterfall forest and I wasn’t me anymore. She looked terrified. Her face made my animal back away and I became me again.
“I’m sorry,” I said, hugging her and she hugged me back but as I pulled away she still looked shook up.
“You’re not a wolf,” she whispered, I shook my head, a secret I had kept all of my life, was out “who knows?”
“Nobody,” I told her.
“We need to go home,” She said looking at me to produce a portal but that was another thing I didn’t do. I grabbed her shoulder and we arrived back in the main hall of the castle. Acker grabbed Ada, pulling her away from me.
“I’m sorry, again,” I said, backing away but Ada came closer, looking at me and saying, “Your secret is safe with us.”
Both men looked at me expectantly. Acker started “Well, that wasn’t a portal, so you can teleport,”
“And she transforms into a giant, White Tiger with purple stripes,” Ada added while Airyck observed us. I looked away, I was upset, and it was becoming too hard to hide, tears started to run down my face.
“Even he didn’t know,” Airyck said, looking at me, feeling sensitive about our relationship after meeting Lucas. I shook my head “None of them knew, any of it,”
“How did you pass shifter training then” Ada asked, now less shocked and more curious. I looked at Airyck not wanting to lie but the truth was bad.
“I didn’t, when my mother thought I was going to shifter training, I was being trained by a wizard,” I sighed, then I stopped feeling bad, I needed to explain.
I walked to Airyck and said, “This changes nothing, I am still completely falling in love with you and I didn’t think I would, I needed to lie to the elders, I needed to look useless because if I was powerful, I would have been used,”
“A reason for war,” Acker said, looking over at me.
“I can help protect the elves,” I told them all as they watched me move. Ada shot a sudden arrow at me and I caught it.
“Go to bed,” Airyck commanded his sibling, walking me to my room.
“Airyck, I…” but I never got to finish. He kissed me. Pushing against me hard, I pushed the doors behind me open and walked backwards, pulling him over and we both fell back onto the bed.
