Chapter 2. Airyck showed me through the city in the darkness, nodding at guards as they watched him and smiling adoringly at his people, they looked at their Prince like he was a god. Worshiping him as he passed gracefully through their small part of the city, one little boy ran out to me, wearing a mini version of the warriors brilliant, navy coloured armour and passed me a beautiful rose, I bent down to his level and he smiled. Touching my hand as he handed me the purple colour rose, he looked into my eyes that mirrored the colour of the rose, tilting his head, wondering exactly what I was, knowing that even though my silvery hair looked similar to the elves. My eyes gave away my little secret. I smiled and said, “you’re going to be a very handsome warrior one day.” For a moment the fear of what I was disappeared from his eyes, but they were still laced with questions, he exhaled quickly, looking to his Prince, his Prince who didn’t intervene, he knew I could handle my own words and allowed me to do so. A much less dominant approach than I was used too, Alphas were very domineering, and I had only seen relationships from a shifters point of view. For once I was lost for words, my new mate knew it and bent down to the boy, crouched next to me, he whispered sweetly “Princess Lola is very special, and she’s been promised to us, an honour Indeed,” “Welcome Princess Lola,” the young boy said cheerfully. Airyck held my hand as he pulled me up and the young boy skipped into his house, his mother who was watching our exchange curtseyed at her Prince, who bowed his head in reciprocation. I smiled at him, looking into his eyes, he had to be too honest to be true. I was waiting for the down side to this beautiful, peaceful Prince. One that for some reason was mine. We walked into the castle and he took me to a large bedroom, a grand room with an elegant four poster bed. “This is your room,” he told me as I looked around the room in shock. I then realised what he had suggested and asked, “do you not mean, our room?” He smiled and shook his head. He walked slowly to me, placing his hands on my waist, encouraging me to lean into him, stroking one hand through my hair and saying, “one day Princess, but for now, make this your home.” I didn’t know what to say back to him. All the friends I had ever had, had explained about a terrible first night with their mate, a night in which they felt obliged to give everything they had saved for their mate, to them, freely, without question. He turned back before leaving, laughing to himself and adding “plus, you smell really bad of an Alpha wolf,” I slightly laughed at him still trying to control the conversation, even though he clearly wasn’t the aggressive type. My bags were already in my room, I didn’t need them however, my wardrobe was full of new, elven clothes and my dresser covered in beautiful hair accessories, although Elves loved their long hair, they didn’t let it cover their beautiful, fair faces. I showered and felt my body free itself from the smells of our home, the smell of Lucas and the delicate waterfall forest. The water ran over my body, introducing me to my new life and the smells of the elven kingdom. I closed my eyes, feeling the water cover my body, taking in the smell of the new forest around me, the smell of the goods from the market and the light, floral smell that covered the castle, that covered the Prince and I found myself thinking out him. I quickly opened my eyes, staring for a moment at the cream coloured wall to gain clarity. I couldn’t fall for him already, I needed to play hard to get, much like he was. I laid in the soft, silk covered bed and felt comfortable. It was dreamy, I didn’t feel tired, but the bed invited me to sleep. To sleep off the feelings of today and prepare my mind and body for what might await me tomorrow. I flicked my wrist and the candles blew out, a waste of my wizard powers but all I wanted to do with them. My mother had made sure I wasn’t trained as a wizard but instead trained as a shifter. I was lost in thoughts as I began to fall asleep in my new, wonderful bedroom. I woke, the sun was beginning to rise through the canopy of trees, highlighting the busy elves, sorting the early morning jobs, baking the fresh bread and sweeping the leaves from the pathway to the castle. I opened the wardrobe to view the beautiful, clothes that had been hand crafted for me. I placed two different dresses on the bed, wanting to choose the perfect one for meeting the King and Queen. I chose a satin, silver dress, it had golden, metallic cuffs and was light and airy. The sleeves were cut to reveal the top of my arms, there was a slit up the leg that almost was too high and the waist was drawn in with an elegant belt that reflected the theme of the golden, metallic cuffs. I then walked to the dresser, picking a golden hair band, it was covered in small purple flowers which almost looked real and placed it over my head. It matched my dress perfectly, the whole outfit made me feel ethereal. I didn’t feel like a heavy handed, aggressive, animalistic, assertive shifter anymore. Nor did I feel like a mysterious, magical, meddling Wizard. But I didn’t feel like an elf. There was a knock on the door as the sun filled the sky. I opened the door and Airyck’s eyes lit up seeing me in his people’s clothes. “Thank you for the lovely clothes,” I said as we slowly walked through the corridor. He smiled delicately, saying “Thank you for making them look so beautiful,” “It’s very generous of you,” I told him, complementing him. He stopped at a window, pointing to the now full market, busy with lives and flowing with activity. “My people made these for you,” he explained to me, watching his people adoringly. He then held my hand as he lead me to the main room of the castle, I pulled back a little, nervous to meet his parents. He noticed my hesitance and stopped. He looked at me, really concentrating on my face and I blushed. He placed his hand on my face, I rested my head gently into his hand and he smoothly moved his thumb to stroke my face. I stepped onto my tip toes, so that I was closer to his face and he placed his forehead on mine reassuringly. “Lola, if they can see how captivated I have become with you already, they will think you are perfect,” he whispered tenderly, and I melted. Whimpering, causing him to step away. He smiled backing away, fearing to get too close too soon. Someone cleared their throat behind us, Airyck and I turned around to see two sets of gazing eyes. Airyck smiled, approached the two with friendly hugs and gentle laughter. I knew who they were from reading the scrolls the elders had given me. Both were Airyck’s younger siblings. Ada, the princess, a very pretty, young women who has short, brown, roughly chopped hair, a not very elven looking, and deep blue eyes, she was wearing the navy armour like her brothers, carrying a large sliver bow, with silver feathered arrows on her back. Acker was the true born warrior, Airyck was to rule the elven kingdom and Acker was to be the captain of the dark elf army. Acker, slightly taller than Airyck and much wider, more muscular and hard faced but still a beautiful elf. “It could have been worse bother,” Acker laughed, looking at me and smiling. Ada skipped over to me and said, “it could have been much worse, she is beautiful,” “She is, isn’t she,” Airyck boasted looking at me proudly. But his bother’s face changed as he looked into my eyes. “She’s no elf though brother,” Acker snapped, Ada shook her head as the tone in the room changed. “She doesn’t need to be,” Airyck told his brother, who seemed a little immature in his questioning and also a little bitter. Something Ada clearly knew, she smiled at him and said, “you will receive you own match in time,” “I hope my match is a pure breed,” Acker sighed looking at me, I looked away feeling uncomfortable and Airyck warned his brother “stop being unkind, that is not the people we are,” “My beautiful children, why are voices being raised?” A stunning lady asked from the door of the main hall, she was the most beautiful lady I had ever seen, endlessly long white hair and emerald eyes that were shimmering in the light. She was captivating, and she was the Queen. “Nothing at all mother, a simple misunderstanding and it WILL not happen again,” Airyck said authoritatively, the first time I had seen him show an angry side of himself. He then held my hand, leading me into the main hall in front of his brother, and sister to make a point.
