You Don't Go To Church Because____ Read Count : 149

People's hearts are getting colder and colder toward God, and each other. But that is no surprise because the Bible predicted this many years ago. Our enemy, Satan, is inventing excuses by the score for people to latch onto.

The Hypocrite Excuse.

It has been said that churches are losing attendees because there are too many hypocrites in the church as a whole. But this is illogical.

You go to the grocery store, McDonald's and other restaurants, the theater to see a favored movie, the mechanic to have your car fixed, and so on. If you think about it, hypocrites go to all of the above places, and more. So, if you are using this excuse for staying away from church, you can never go anywhere and just stay home.

The "I've Been Hurt" excuse.

Yes, it is hard to get over being hurt, depending on the circumstances, but you have to resolve the hurt before it causes health and spiritual problems now and in the future.

For example, I met a man when I was a hospital chaplain, who had held a grudge for 40 years against a person, and now he was terribly sick. Grudges, resentment, bitterness and other negative emotions help to cause high blood pressure because your body has a "fight or flight mode." This happens when you perceive there is danger near, so your adrenaline kicks in to give you the added resources to deal with what is happening.

The problem is, the same reaction happens in your body when you are hurt emotionally and otherwise. That adrenaline, over time, affects your heart and other parts of your body, giving you a low quality of life that may be irreversible.

The solution is to work on forgiving others, even if it takes a while. A thought or other stimulus may bring the event back to your mind, and you have to keep going through the forgiving process over and over.

When forgiveness is hard to do, let God help you. The Bible says, "What is impossible for man is possible with God." If you come with a humble heart, he will help you with not just forgiveness, but all the problems in your life. He loves you tremendously because you are his creation, no matter what you and others may think in the negative sense. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Cast all your cares upon Me, because I care about you."

Would you go to someone for advice if they put you down and berated you for coming to them? I hope not. Then go to God who DOES love you, despite what the world says.

You don't have to do your life alone, but you can if you want to. You can turn your back on God and never know him personally, but there are a lot of consequences for doing that to yourself. It is your choices that cause those consequences to happen, so you cannot justifiably blame God when they happen. But it is not too late to come to God, his way, until you die. Hebrews 9:27 says, "It is given unto man once to die and then the judgment." Whatever else you may believe is not the truth, so beware.

You may not like what I have written here today, but that is okay, even though it is sad. You have a right to choose what you want to believe. But there will be no excuses possible on Judgment Day. What you choose before you die is what you have to live with in eternity. You know what that means.

Please don't wait too long before you make the right choice toward God, because death can come at any time. Comment on this blog if you will. Thanks.
