Early one morning, Marley Moo and her new little sister, Frankie Puff, were sound asleep at the foot of their humans’ bed. Suddenly, a bright yellow spring bird landed on their window sill and began to sing a beautiful song. Marley Moo opened her eyes to see the sun peering in through the window. She excitedly jumped up and went to wake her sister, Frankie Puff. Marley Moo couldn't wait to show her new sister around town. Soon, with tails wagging happily, they jumped on their humans and covered them with sticky wet kisses. “Okay, okay, we're up,” said their humans as they slid out of bed to find their shoes. With leashes on, the pups pranced outside ready for a walk on this beautiful day. “Frankie Puff, you are going to love it here. We get to see so many things out on our walks,” Marley Moo said proudly as she sniffed the stump of a nearby tree. The two pups enjoyed sniffing the grass and frolicking through a field of dandelions when suddenly Frankie Puff spotted a bird. She instinctively darted after it, when to her dismay she was halted by her leash. The little bird flew away and Franken Puff was sad. Doing a quick shake, she carried on. Marley Moo, happy and content, darted from side to side stopping to smell the various bushes and plants. “Isn’t this wonderful?” Marley Moo asked Frankie Puff. Frankie Puff sighed, “It would be better if we weren’t tied to these leashes.” “What do you mean?” gasped Marley Moo. “Better how?” “We’re dogs, we should be able to run free and chase birds and explore,” she exclaimed. “I never thought of it that way, but what if we get lost?” asked Marley Moo feeling a little nervous. “Lost? We are dogs, we can sniff our way home,” Frankie Puff said convincingly. “I suppose you’re right,” agreed Marley Moo. “So what do you propose we do?” “How about you bite my leash, while I bite yours and in no time we will be free to chase all the birds we want!” Frankie Puff said feeling excited that she convinced her new sister. With in a matter of minutes, Marley Moo and Frankie Puff broke free from their leashes and ran off, ignoring the calls of their worried humans. There was so much to do and see. Marley Moo was excited about this new found freedom as they ran to a nearby pond filled with all sorts of geese and ducks. With Frankie Puff chasing after them they all flew quickly into the sky. “Woohoo!” shouted Frankie Puff. “I told you we would have more fun.” Marley Moo, feeling a little bit nervous, gave it a try. She ran into a group of nesting ducks at full speed. “Quack, quack, quack,” the ducks screamed as they flapped and waddled quickly into the pond. Frankie Puff, excited by the splash the ducks made, waded into the pond after them. One duck spoke up. “This is no place for dogs, you should go home where you belong,” he quacked. The two pups left the pond all soaking wet and wandered up a hill. Marley Moo spied a little hole in the dirt. She stuck her nose in to the hole to investigate further while Frankie Puff curiously watched. Sniff, sniff. Suddenly Marley Moo jumped away and howled while pawing her nose. “What happened?” shouted Frankie Puff as she ran to her sister to see if she was ok. “Something got my nose,” cried Marley Moo. Taking another peek, they spied a little gopher popping its head out of the hole. “This is no place for dogs, you should go home where you belong,” squeaked the little gopher. Soon, Marley Moo and Frankie Puff went on their way. They trotted along enjoying their new found freedom when a giant bird swooped down and grabbed Frankie Puff. “Let me go!” she hollered. The bird continued to flap her wings ignoring the puppy’s pleas. Marley Moo, scared for her sister, barked and barked as she ran following the big bird who carried her sister away. Frankie Puff wiggled and wiggled trying to free herself from the big bird. The big bird decided to free the black fluffy little pup as she landed next to a big oak tree. Marley Moo quickly caught up to her sister and the big bird. “This is no place for dogs, you should go home where you belong,” squawked the big bird. Ignoring the warning they trotted off feeling relieved to be reunited. They wandered down a winding path that led to a small creek. The cold water ran swiftly over the smooth rocks. The two sisters were having a blast splashing their paws in the water when out popped a little fish startling the two pups. “Glub, glub, glub, this is no place for dogs, you should head home,” announced the little fish before it quickly swam away. With their little wet paws, they pranced off away from the creek. Feeling a little tired, Marley Moo let out a big yawn and said, “I think we should head for home. All of this excitement has made me very sleepy.” “And all of the excitement has made me very hungry,” Frankie Puff said agreeing with her sister. With the sun hidden by a forest of tall trees, it began to get darker. Frantically sniffing for a familiar scent they ran into an orange fox. Frightened, the two sisters huddled together. Frankie Puff spoke up, “Please let us pass, we are trying to get home, this is no place for dogs.” The sly little fox agreed and let them pass. The wind in the trees began to howl as the scared little pups found themselves on a crooked little dirt path. “I just want to go home,” cried Marley Moo as they wandered along. “Me too,” Frankie Puff agreed. One by one spots appeared on the ground. “Something is falling from the sky” yelped Frankie Puff as she ran to get away from it. Marley Moo chased after her baby sister. “It’s just rain. No need to worry,” said Marley Moo once she caught up with her. Feeling damp and cold, the two pups continued along the path. Walking in silence, Frankie Puff’s ears instantly perked up. “Did you hear that?” Frankie Puff asked in excitement as she turned to see her sister darting in the direction of the sound. “I sure did, that’s our call to come home! Let’s go,” cried Marley Moo. With tails wagging and ears flopping, the tired wet dogs were reunited with their humans. Safely inside with full bellies, sitting by the fire, the two sisters decided that home was the best place for dogs and they drifted off to sleep.
