On February 11th, I received a call that devastated me. My friend, Doris had passed away at her home. Her husband was by her side when she breathed her last breath. 

Doris had been battling with all kinds of illness from diabetes to heart problem to gastric to high blood pressure, for many years. The hospital was like her second home and pills and medication was like her normal diet. Stress was the main culprit that led to all her health complications. Her life was filled with sadness and darkness but she fought through every single thing that was thrown in her path like a brave soldier. She fought with everything she had till she was too tired to fight anymore.

I wrote "Go The Distance" as a special tribute to her, as my small way of letting her voice be heard. But due to her passing, I feel that it was a sign for me to discontinue writing her story. I guess she wanted to take her story with her to her grave. As a show of respect to her, I will not be continuing "Go The Distance". Let her story lie in peace with her and let it be kept a secret to me and those handful of people who know her real story.

My friend for 30 years, she and I had gone through so much together. She was a true friend right to the end. She will be deeply missed but she will forever remain in my heart.

Rest well, Doris. You've earned your place in the sun.
