"Are you really asking? I am the new sixth grade kid," he answered slowly. "I am Daniel. Maybe the teacher mentioned me?"
"What teacher?" I asked quietly with slight ambition to the subject.
"Mrs. Seabryn. My dad said she was the best teacher. She is about fifty years old, right?" he answered happily. I only nodded. He kept going. "So, who is your class?"
"Mrs. Seabryn." I mumbled with doubt. I knew who my teahcher was, but I was scared he was lying.
"Cool! Come on, we should get to class. ... Not unless you still want to escape. So, you coming?" he asked me trying to be polite.
"Well, I was running away," his mother sneered, "but I guess I could come back with you." I concluded.
"What is your name?" he blurted out.
"I am Maya, I told you. But call me Special," I said.
"Okay, Special. And I said I was Daniel. But you call me Mumbler. Old nicknames stick!" I giggled at his joke. I took his arm and guided him in the room. Kids were still there. My mom and Mrs. Seabryn were gone.
