New Years"What time is it" asked Donnie."It's almost twelve o'clock" the bartender replied. Donnie began scouting the room while sipping his drink. He sat at the bar, looking at the people on the dance floor below, wondering why they have decided to spend there night at the rundown club. He stared over the crowd for hours, lost in a world of thought."What can I get you" asked the bartender."I'll have a Margarita please" announced the girl."Sure thing" the bartender replied. As the bartender left to prepare the woman's drink, she noticed Donnie staring thoughtfully into the distance. "Hey, I'm Sarah" she proclaimed.Donnie, no longer I'm his dream world, turned to face the woman sitting next to him."I'm sorry" he replied."I said my name's sarah" she repeated."Well Sarah, its nice to meet you, im Donnie" he exclaimed. At that moment the bartender returned with Sarah's drink."That'll be twelve dollars" said the bartender. As Sarah reached into her purse, Donnie reached out to stop her."I'll pay for the lady's drink" said Donnie."No, you don't have to do that" Sarah remarked."I want to, it's not often you meet a decent lady in this club" Donnie smirked."I'm sure there's been others" she blushed.Donnie reached into his pant pocket and pulled out his wallet. It was a beautiful wallet, made from European leather with an elegant image of a bull imprinted on the inside. Donnie paid the bartender with a smile on his face."Hey, why don't we get out of this place, go somewhere a little fancier" asked Sarah."I don't see why not" he replied.Sarah theory him by the hand, leading him out of the club. As they reached the doors, she stopped and turned to Donnie. Their eyes locked for mere seconds and they proceeded to exit the club. "Where are we gonna go" asked Donnie."I've got a place in mind" she replied with a smirk on her face.Donnie felt nauseous, the look in Sarah's eye had changed. It's no longer the calming sea of blue it had been moments before, but is now a field of bright green.Donnie disregarded this feeling, pushing it to the side as if his mind was trying to betray him. Sarah, still leading Donnie through the streets turned onto Brooke street. Donnie felt nauseous once again as vague memories of this street slowly became clear I'm his head."Where are we going" Donnie was starting to panic."You sound worried" Sarah replied."This place just gives me the creeps, I think I've been here before" he exclaimed."Don't worry Donnie, you'll be fine" she assured him.Now half way down Brooke street, Sarah pulled Donnie into a dark alley.Donnie's mind was in a frenzy, he finally remembered why this street was a memory. This is the alley his dad had been murdered. Donnie began to freak, trying to convince Sarah to head back to the club. Instead of asking questions, Sarah only grinned. That's when Donnie realized, she wasn't the kind, friendly woman he had talked to in the bar. "I'm sorry Donnie, they made me bring you here" explained Sarah, "they said they would hurt my kids if I didn't do it" she finished."I don't understand..." Donnie was interrupted by the sound of approaching footsteps. As he looked down the alley, he seen three figures concealed by the shadows. Donnie began to speculate, who are these people, what do they want from me and why do they want me here" he thought. Then, the three figures emerged from the shadows, revealing their faces."No point in struggling Donnie" one of the men proclaimed.Hearing the man's voice brought the memory of his dad's death in full detail. They had been walking down Brooke street after watching a late night movie at the new theater. They had decided to take a shortcut through the alley, that's when yhe men had appeared. They threatened his father, demanding he give then money, but he refused. Then one of the men grabbed his father and thrust a knife into his chest, the blade fully submerged in his ribs. Donnie was still lost in the memory of his father's death, when one of the men grabbed him by his jacket and pinned him to the wall of the alley. "Guys, you don't have to do this" Donnie cried."You can't stop this Donnie" the man said."Please, just leave me alone" he plead, "there's no need for-"Before Donnie could finish, one of the men had unsheathed a knife. Donnie hadn't noticed the blade until it embedded itself in his flesh. "Quite, Donnie there's no shame in death" the man said.the man that was holding Donnie against the wall had losses ed his grip, letting Donnie fall to the ground. As the blood poured from the wound I'm his stomach, his bison began to blur."How does it feel Donnie, being slain by the same knife that sent your father to his grave" the man asked rhetorically. Donnie now lay in a pool of blood. As his vision began to fade to black, he thought of his father and how he was brutally murdered in the same alley that he lay in now. He thought of his mother, how she would manage with the death of her only son. Then all he could do was listen, the man who had been talking was now quiet. All he could hear were the mournful tears dripping from Sarah's chin and the sound of the busy late night traffic. Moments passed, then there was nothing. The sound of traffic had stopped, the intense numbing had vanished and the life flushed out of Donnie.
