A small crude stone slab.
Laid upon this wretched land.
Wary bones lie,
where no living will ever cry.

No wreath will lay upon this grave.
A death so long ago,
that no one will honor. A life was taken.
His soul will never rest.

Rugged, small, weary flag above his stone.
Colors faded, scorned name in the very country he died for.
Just one in a sea of thousands.
Without a name.

Another overgrown, forgotten grave.
Labeled “ Unknown Confederate Soldier”.
