1. Cyrin yawned and stared up at the thatched roof, Pieces of it were on the dirt floor along with pots and pans to catch the dripping water from the melting snow on their roof. Whether she wanted it, which she didn't, Cyrin sat up and pulled her boots on to meet her sister outside to start their daily routine, work. 2. Shyra, Cyrin's sister, smirked as she watched the sun slowly seep up the horizon, Shadows fell behind the wheat fields in front of the distanced walls of the cobble castle. A river flew down a couple feet away from where the fields end and a road started, that road split in two, one heading to the castle, another heading past the Cyrin's small family's house and to another village. 3. Shyra yawned and shouted "Cyrin, Solfer c'mon lets go," to wake her siblings for the first day of their work after this winter. The air was slightly colder than expected and Shyra had to wrap another coat around her covering her scarred arms. 4. Shyra, or Shy for short, was the youngest of their small family of three after their mother had died Shy took her place, cooking and cleaning when she got done with her daily routine, dinner, however, was their only meal. 5. There used to be a time they weren't just peasants, they used to live in the big Manor across from them, it was partly hidden from the castle's sight as tall trees of dark oak were surrounding it. There used to be a time when they had Serf's who played music and picked food, but now? It was them who did the picking, them who did the cleaning, her, her brother and her sister who labored day and night except for winter when the crops had died and the family that owned the manor moved to the castle. 6. Cyrin opened the door made out of cloth and looked to the sun, it cast its gaze down at them lightening them, 7. Cyrin was the spitting image of their father, and she hated it. Black hair, golden eyes with a mix of green, and a tougher face than normal girls, she normally wore leather boots and normal, grey peasant clothes. "Morning Shy, how'd you sleep?" She asked with a yawn. 8. "Better then you," Shy smirked, Cyrin was on night watch last night and had returned late, she even had brought some lettuce which she could tell made her sister a bit suspicious as the last time she stole from the Lord's Manor she got a beating, but she'd never tell her little sister that. 9. "Took you long enough," Cyrin shoved their oldest brother who toppled over a little, he glared at her with the evil eye and shook his head, they laughed how clumsy he was off and started to tease Shy. 10. Cyrin had always seemed odd to the both of them, Shyra and Solfer had Soil brown hair and dark emerald eyes, they were practically twins should Solfer not had been a few years older then Shy 11. Cyrin broke the mood as she looked sideways, to the castle in the far east which had a tower higher than the mountains where they held some criminals. Including their father who had murdered their mother a few years back, he was the reason they were poor and hard living, the reason they were skin and bones, the reason Solfer wasn't his usual self. 12. "Hey, stop thinking about him Rin," Solfer warned but Cyrin didn't seem to be listening 13. "Sis, past is in the past," Shyra replied quickly quoting what their mother would've said. 14. "He killed mom..." Rin growled, " Aren't you mad at him Shy? You loved mom more then both of us," It was true, Shy and their mother were always in the garden together while Solfer and their father were training, it was Rin who usually played with the Serf's kids or spent countless hours by herself or talking to whatever animal she could find. 15. "You have a dark heart because..." 16. "Dont think I care," Rin started walking to the farms to start her jobs, along with Shy, they scared the crows and collected the eggs for Lord Fylo, the man who bought their Manor after their parents left them. Solfer harvested crops as they were poor and he was unable to be sent to the other castles to learn how to become a knight. 17. Rin split ways with Shy as she went to collect the eggs, the farm was a few yards away from the egg hatch. Short roads split the way so it was easier to get to the different jobs Opening the hatch Rin walked into the egg coop, a few times the chickens pecked her but she had been doing this for a few years now it didn't hurt as much. She gathered the eggs then shooed the chicken off the last nest, suddenly a shockwave slashed through her as she stared at an egg, but this wasn't any old egg. Although she couldn't tell what kind of egg it was it had different colors of spots, red, blue, orange all very dark as the egg itself was black. Intrigued Rin slipped the egg into a small pouch and added several twigs and sticks to keep it from cracking. 18. The second she was out of the egg hatch she was shaking, first of all, it was illegal to take eggs from the Lord's manors egg hatch, second of all, she didn't want to know the expression of her siblings once they figured out what she did. 19. "Cyrin!" She jumped and looked at the child who had shouted her name. She nodded showing them she was listening. "Father wants you," Rin nodded and headed to the inside of the manor. 20. "Cyrin, I see..." Lord Fylo paused to look down at her, "you have done your jobs," he slowly examined the mud all over her clothes and chicken waste on her boots. Rin nodded "well, anyway, as you know the hunters are having trouble as he bear attacks have lowered their ranks, I'm willing to send your brother to the other castles so he can become a knight if your willing to join the hunters," 21. Cyrin froze, this was a first, it had never happened before, that she knew of, a Lord making a bargain to a peasant. She nodded slowly before slowly tilting her head beside her just in case there was another girl named Cyrin standing there more suitable for the job. her but it was only him and her here. 22. "Excellent, ill see to it tomorrow, dismissed, you may do home as your shift is over," 23. Shyra froze as she heard the news. It was a first in her entire life had she seen or heard a Lord make a bargain with a peasant. If he needed hunters he could simply just send her without having to send Solfer to the other castles to learn how to become a knight. But the news, however, made her rather proud of her sister. 24. "Mhm, I can't even believe this is happening, even though I do t know how to hunt..." 25. "You'll do great," Shy gave Rin that smile that was always contagious. Suddenly the door opened and Solfer walked in. His clothes full of dirt, not even a spot was the original color. 26. "'Dem guards... I tell 'em the lord hired me every time I see 'em," 27. "What did they do this time?" Shyra asked 28. "Nun, what did you two do...." He asked suspiciously as he changed the subject Shyra explained how he was going to learn how to become a knight because Rin had become a hunter. 29. "That's amazing Rin," he smiled "When though?" 30. "I didn't ask but considering he's that desperate probably tomorrow," Rin concluded. 31. "Well, get some sleep you two ill take watch tonight," 32. Rin went to sleep in the corner, she slid her bag off and laid it in front of her hid in from Solfer and Shyra's sight the small egg glowed in the dark luring her into sleep. 33. Rin woke up in a dark cave den, bones were scattered everywhere and blood stains on the walls two dragons stood in the corner, one was black with magma colored eyes, the other one was had blood-red scales that seemed sharp and dagger-like. Besides them was a man dressed in rough wool and linen of different colors, his hair was golden brown and his eyes, well, Rin couldn't tell. 34. "Just a sacrifice for the protected to get on the right track," the man continued. He had a brilliant accent although it really wasn't that thick. Rin could only wonder what he was talking about as he continued. Suddenly a lightning bolt shot through the sky and Rin suddenly realized it was raining. The sun slowly peaked over a valley in front of the mountains. Rin slowly turned her head back to the scene but they were gone. A spiral of wind brushed the floor of the den. 35. Cyrin woke to the nasty bit of reality as a bucket of cold, thin water soaked her clothes, a piece of melting ice the size, and shape, of the bucket, lay on her lap melting as if she were a heater. After throwing the ice away and pushing herself up her sister glared at her, 36. "Done?" Shyra asked slightly annoyed as if she couldn't wait for Cyrin to leave. 37. "What? You want me to go into shock?" Cyrin teased and slipped her pack over her shoulder."Anyway, where's Solfer?" 38. "He's already gone, you'd better hurry up and join the hunters," Shyra answered hugging her sister then shooing her out of the cottage. 39. "Ok, ok I get it, bye," Rin replied rushing out into the first autumn rain, Cyrin smiled, she always loved the sound of the rushing rain following her down the steps to the castle, The sun slowly rose higher viewing the valley with its light. The second she reached the roads it was completely off of the valley but only by an inch. When she knew she was alone and far out of the sight of the Lord's Manor she slipped her Egg out of her pack. 40. "Hello little one," she awkwardly greeted the egg. It took her a few seconds to realize the egg's spots were slowly glowing different colors and it was steaming from the rain. Suddenly she heard a twig crack. Her heart skipped a beat and she slipped the egg into her pocket. 41. "Hello?" She asked slowly turning it into a growl. 42. "Well..." A voice whispered stepping out of a shadow, "Well, well, what do we have here. An unarmed child walking to the castle... What's in your bag little child..." 43. Rin didn't reply she stared into the red eyes of the walking shadow. She reached into her coat as if she had a weapon and the figure stopped. Then she acted as if she threw it and the shadow tried to reflect it. Rin took this moment to run. Flying into the fields like a lightning bolt she somewhat ducked and rolled into the weeds. Then when the shadow turned around she ran a couple more yards as she reached the gates of the fort. 44. "Who are you..." A guard asked suspiciously.
