Chapter 2

Finally, around eight months after the homeless lady gave me the wonderful news, December, 25th had arrived. By this time, of course, I had forgotten all about the ladies message. With our busy lives and how fast time flies by its no wonder, we remember anything at all. I was spending most of my time slaving at my job, then I would get home and eat supper with the wife and play with the kids, your typical weeks. I'll tell you this, for knowing I was about to die I didn't do anything exciting or live like it that's for sure. Arlene my wife and I went last minute shopping at our local Walmart. We were walking around the store getting wrapping paper and tape. We get our things, pay for it and head back out to the car. I put the things we purchased in the trunk. We both got in the car, Arlene looks at me and says "I'm hungry Michael, let's grab a bite to eat, what do you say?" I agree I was kind of hungry also. We pull out onto the highway ramp and head off to burger king to grab some food. However, we never make it to Burger King. As soon as we pull into the road we are struck by a Dodge Challenger doing around 100 miles an hour. It smashes my side of the care caving it in like a tin can, of course, I'm smashed between steel, I can feel things in my insides poking me, I know it's bad. I look over at my wife and she is out with her head towards the passenger door. I'm in serious pain but it doesn't stop me from trying to move. I look out my side window trying to see the other driver, it does me no good I can't see shit. Blood is running into my eyes from the top of my head. I nudge my shoulder up to my eye to try and wipe the blood away, movement out the front window catches my eye and through the shattered glass, I can see the homeless lady smiling and waving at me. As my world goes dark... I remember our encounter, my last thought was please let Arlene live, please god.
