She stood, still as a stone; watching, waiting. Her breath slowed, eyes gliding from side to side, but saw nothing. She listened to the dark world of the wooded night, watching the dark shifting shadows of ancient trees. The frost around her shown silver in the dim moon light. She batted stiffly at the mud that clung to her scarlet dress, now satined and torn. She tensed as icy breezes pressed in, pulling in her black cloak. Cold dirty fingers rubbed at the blood and filth smeared across her face, pulling up her hood hiding her face further still in shadows.

She looked around anxiously, coiled like a spring. The girl looked up at the titaunas trees, branches knarled and twisted, roots weaving in and out of the dark rich earth. The red browning leaves that clung to the branches were full in color, even in the dim star speckled light. The autum leaves made the forest seem ablaze. She breathed in deep, smelling every ounce of he forest from pine to oak, listening to the rustling of crisp fall leaves. A twig snap behind her sent her running into the brisk cool forest. The girl ran across the frozen forest, bare feet slipping numbly on the loosly layered leaves and warm oozing liquid. Foilage rained slowly down on her as she pranced on. Her heart pounded, gasping for air all too far from her lips.

She leaped over bushes, dodged low branches, pranced over roots, and glided around trees. Her body ached but she couldn't stop, only knowing one thing, that she needed to run.Fear had sent her further into the thick wood, the fear held fast; she could not escape. Every noise sent her further, faster. Her black hair once tucked now flicked violently, whipping her, urging her on.She came to a hult, her heart ached horribly. The forrest fanned out, leading to a cliff and white currents below.

Traped, She walked past the last tree and down the ledge as wild waves clashed against black boulders no bigger than pebbles from above. The red rising sun bled into the dark reflecting waters. The wind polished water reflected the fiery trees on the edge of the water leading out to sea. There was nowhere to go, not now. She felt dispairs grip, falling to her knees, her breath loud and labered pulling in the painfully cold air through flired nosrils. She felt weak and vulnerable, terror filling what was left of her. Tears streaked her face, turning into hot gushing streams.

She began to pound the ground violently, putting everything in her into each strike until she could no longer feel her fists. The girl sat silently, tears freezing to her cheeks, rubbing her bleeding hands. She pulled her fallen hood up to cover her face once more, shame nawing at her like an open wound. A low moan escaped her lips, growing in volume until it became a wail screaming long horrible sounds that carried out over the water, mounts out beyond the horrizon. She screamed out her pain and fear until she could not regignize herself in it, and screamed out louder. She screamed until her voice was too raw and was gone.

The girl sat in silence once again, echos ringing like a distant whisper. She sat in the hush of the trees and the rush of the sea, idly craddling herself. Holding her thighs, she sat in the overwhelming silence. Shivering in the silver wind, she closed her eyes in her anticipating fear. She wanted to cry, but her tears were long spent, exhling deeper with every breath. She felt something on her shoulder, flashing her eyes open she squirmed and pulled away but was held fast with strong hands. She stopped, feeling the warmth fill her, rush through her, a safety. Her breath regulated and her muscles relaxed. She felt herself pulled into an embrace, looking back to the figures dark silhouette. She listened as he whispered in her ears, soothing words as she faded further and further into his arms. And this is my recurring dream, always the same, so real.
