"Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud."
                    Maya Angelou

How much would ot cost you to encourage someone? To give a smile to brighten a life for a moment? To visit a homebound person with a terminal or chronic illness?

I grew up with many negatives in my life: near-blindness, and low self-esteem, epilepsy, etc. I had a hard time finding a career path because of all these obstacles.

My father wanted me to be a school custodian, rehabilitation said I should be an accountant but my eyesight wasn't good enough. There were many opinions on the subject, that is why it took me so long to find the right career.

My writing ability improved as I tried different forms of it: poetry, essays, articles, blogs, and a grief column in a newspaper, and more. God helped me progress from one to another through classes, opportunities, and a great deal of practice.

People told me I couldn't try doing new things because of my "condition." I had to fight my way through college because one parent didn't want me there. However, the other parent was my rainbow.

Due to working in the family business, I learned the art of sales. This skill was my main vocation for most of my life. Later on, I worked in the restaurant industry for a few years where I learned to cook.

God was directing my life even though I wasn't aware of it a lot of the time. He put it in my heart to be a minister. This was accomplished 25 years after God showed me the purpose for all I had gone through.

I was a hospital chaplain for 10 years before my first wife became too ill to be left alone for very long. Our daughter and I took care of her in a rest home the last 10 months of her life, helping with bandaging, shots for diabetes, oxygen equipment, and beyond. She died just short of our 33rd wedding anniversary.

I remarried later on, and gained a new family, and an adventure in a different state. God has protected both of my families and I through many harrowing circumstances, and blessed us tremendously in the process.

The actress, Audrey Hepburn said "Nothing is impossible, even the word itself says "im possible." What is impossible for man is possible for God. Jesus made this statement many years ago, but you have to believe this and be close to God for it to transform your life.

You have seen a brief glimpse into my life through these written words. They are here to encourage you, regardless of your circumstances. God is not limited by human standards or ideas. He can do anything, but it takes faith in his will and purpose for your life.

Are you going to be disappointed by misdirection from those around you? Will you go through difficult situations as you get older? Probably! But, if you get rid of the resentment and forgive as you go along, God will make sure you succeed.(Jeremiah 29:11) God will turn the negatives in your life into good things.(Romans 8:28)
Keep believing no matter what! You might give up on yourself, but God doesn't.

Now, go out there and be a rainbow to as many people as you can for God's glory, not your own.
