It was supposed to be easy. That after the pain and suffering. It would all be over. You never said that the memories would remain. That every time I thought of your name, I couldn't breath. That the hole inside my chest would explode with pain and the walls would collapse in on me like a caged animal. I was chained to the past, I could feel it's tug on my soul everytime I began to slip away. But, everytime I finally begin to forget, you come back like a dagger to the heart. A new wound forms while the others reopen, but they are deeper and only take longer to reclose. I want the pain to end and for the constant feeling of being trapped to just disappear.
