"Bailey, no! Do not take that person's sandwich!" Was all I could yell as I saw Bailey charge at a person who had just come out of a Subway. Of course, it was the guys own fault for tormenting him with it, so you could say I didn't necessarily try to help him. I may or may not have stood there, laughing like a maniac (Not that I'm not one). Of course, that earned me a lot of death stares from the nearest people. One even threw a burger at me, which I was quite thankful for.
"Get this mangy, dirty, possibly rabid vermine off of me!" Was all the man could yell before Bailey pulled at his sandwich, took it, and ran off with me laughing right behind him. We practically ran around half the city before the man stopped chasing us. He must have really wanted that sandwich, not that he needed it, mind you.
"Bailey, you are probably the most stupid, amazingly wonderful dog I have ever met in my life." I said to him as I sat down, panting from the fifty mile run we just did. He simply stared at me, barked, and took a bite out of the dirty foot long, which was weirdly misshapen by the way. I just watched him eat for a few moments before taking a bite out of the lucky burger thrown at me.
It was kinda sad though. If only they threw fries at me as well. The curly ones are the best. But anyway, we finished those sandwiches in like, negative million seconds, and it only made me more hungry. Bailey had looked up at me with the saddest expression when he finished, and I just couldn't let him starve. Which is why we are now robbing a store. Well, I wouldn't call it robbing, just borrowing something without permission. And speaking of store, it was a 7-Elleven. See, nothing to be afraid of.
.................................................................
Crud, okay so remember when I said not to worry. Well, I'm running for my life now. Okay, so it technically wasn't my fault. If the cashier wasn't so observant I wouldn't have been caught! See, that's the problem with society. Everyone's so observant about what you do these days.
"Stop and put your hands in the air!" NO. THEY FOUND ME. Well, at least there's just one. Ah man, he brought back-up. Okay, now I'm REALLY in trouble.
"Okay sir. Please just calm down, and don't shoot me. I'll come quietly."
"That's right boy. We've been looking for you for a long time."
"And you've done a very good job at that sir." At this, the policeman sighed and walked up to me. Gosh he's scary.
"Oh so you think you're funny kid? How about you tell that to the judge?" And he cuffed me. And that stupid judge phrase, do you know how many times they play that in movies? So annoying but ANYWAY, getting off track. Where was I....okay yeah, so, me and Bailey were arrested. (Okay let me just put this out there, this might not seem like a story but it totally is so this is like a little author to reader note, if you don't like this style of writing PLEASE tell me and I will CHANGE IT).
Anyway, it was around dark by the time we got there. Thankfully, Bailey was able to ride the whole way with me as I stared out the window. After all, this wasn't the first time I was arrested. I had been stealing my whole life. I tried not to, but I would just get so hungry, and begging wasn't helping. Okay, sad backstory time:
I never knew my parents. My mother had died giving birth to me and my father had left before I was born. I didn't know if he was still alive. Everyone said he was dead, and I believed them. After all, he only visited me once, and I hardly remember that encounter.
It was when I was three or something. He had just sneaked into the orphanage and draped a necklace around my neck. I still had it and I couldn't help but finger it nervously as me and Bailey rode in the car. It seemed that at one point, it was a locket, but no matter how hard I tried to open it, it wouldn't budge sadly.
I had found Bailey when he was a pup, after I had ran away from the orphanage. He was in a box, like in those dog movies, and was the only one left. It would have been easier to leave him since I was seven at that time, but, I couldn't just leave him. He seemed just like me. In need of a home. So, even though I probably won't ever be able to give him a home, at least we had each other.
"My god, another explosion at the factory. These terrorists." The policeman to the right said, turning up the volume on the radio. Since I was in the back, I could only hear little snippets of it. Something to do with a medical building destroyed in an explosion. Of course, they blamed it on The X.
The X is a group of people. They've been at this for quite some time now. Blowing up buildings and making the government angry. You see, our city wasn't the best in the world. It was probably the most crime ridden city you could think of ( even more than Gotham in Batman you could say). And it didn't help that millions of people lived here. Millions of people were raped, kidnapped, and stolen from in a day.
"What the hell is that?" I could hear guard on the left say. I glanced out the window, blinked a couple of times, banged my head lightly against the door, and looked out again. There was someone, no, something coming right at us.
"Crap." Was all I could say before it crashed into us, knocking me out cold.
