I must warn you before you read this. My grammar can get pretty rough and my writing form isnt the best. There will be countless mistakes. With that said i hope everyone enjoys my story. Chapter 1 As a child I was deathly sick and wasnt able to even look out a window. It was tough on my Father too, raising 2 kids on his own. My mother died when i was born and left father with a 7 year old son and newborn daughter. Father had to get 3 jobs just to try and support the family but the stress became to great and he hung himself when I was 6. From then it was just brother and me. He promised he wouldnt leave me like Father did and found work as a delivery boy in the fishing ports. It was barely enough to feed us. Most nights we went hungry and because I was so sick brother always worried how I was going to survive each night and day it was like that for 8 years. One day brother got really excited saying he got a really good job and that he'd be gone for a few hours longer than usual and asked if I could manage it. I told him yes of cource. It had been so long since I saw him smile last, how I could I not? 2 days went by before he came back. He looked dreadful as he limped across the floor bloody and banged up. His hait was that of dried blood instead of blonde and his eyes were paler from their usual bright green, he was smiling though as he crouched beside me. "Listen Shiro I'm sorry it took longer than I thought but I found some medicine that will make you better, and some money that will last you for a year and half if you rashon it. Take the medicine twice a day and head to Shire Town. Theres a man there that can help you by the name of Radfield. I have a horse and a carrage outside I can take you across the bordor but that is where we must part ways. I'm not abandoning you though Shiro. There are a few things I must do here before I join you but I promise I will join you. Ill tell you more once were on the road but we must leave now." He picked me from my bed and covered my body and face with the blanket as we approached the door. It was dark though and I couldn't see anything but after a few i was set down and brother uncovered my face and stuck a bottle to my lips. "I need you to drink this it's the medicine." He seemed desprite but hopeful. It tasted sweet and it was thick as it ran down my throat. Once it was gone brother propted me up against a pillow in the carrage and handed me a roll of bread ,and an apple that was chopped up. "I have to drive now if you need anything just ask. Ill be right up front." He said with a smile and got out of the carrage. I heard many things I had never heard before and with each passing day brother would give me the medicine and talk about what it would be like once I met Mr.Radfield. With each passing day I felt my body getting stronger. It took a week just to get to the border. "Shiro once we get to the border a man will be there to take you the rest of the way to Radfield I trust him so please mind what he says." He said as he gave me some water to drink. "Yes brother." I told him sourly. "Alright we should be arriving at the bordor in about half a day so get some rest because you'll be switching carrages. Also keep this money where no one can find it and trust no one but Radfield and the man taking you there. Im also giving you this its a collar and a charm youll learn what to do with these when the time is right. Now then, lets get going." Brother handed me a beautiful charm with a wonderous creature on it and the collar took on a different form from when he had it. It looked like a brown, roughed up leather, but when I took it, it turned into a a pretty black necklace with three silver steel rectagles hanging from it. I stared at it till I fell asleep. I woke up when I found myself being picked up by Brother. "Are we here brother?" I asked groggy. "Yes Shiro it's time to say our goodbyes for now. Remember everything I've told you and dont loose what I gave you." Hes says very serious. I nod and hug him as tight as I could manage trying not to cry. "I love you too Shiro. I promise ill follow behind once I can." He kissed my forehead before he covered my head and exited the carrage where I was then transfered to the new carrage and settled in. When i was uncovered brother was smiling and showed me the bag of medicine and a hidden dagger in case of an emergency. Then we said our last goodbyes. Chapter 1 End Chapter 2 2 days passed since we said our goodbyes and even though he said we'd see eachother again I couldnt help but feel this emptyness inside my chest. "Did you take your mesicine kid?" A voice calls from in front of the carrage. The man brother left me with was nice enough and seemed concerned for my well being, but ive yet to see the face that the deep and harsh toned voice belonged to. "I have." I told him simply. "That's good. Its going to be a long journey getting to Shire Town we'll take a break once dusk hits and you can wash up for dinner." He said in his deep but softer voice. I've learned that even though he sounds harsh and angry he's really just worried and a serious guy. I tried imagining what he'd look like but my imagination lacked in appearances. I sigh in defeat. "Everything okay?" He asks in a stiff voice suddenly. "Yes, i'm fine don't worry." I say quickly. He has very good hearing and is very attentive to his surroundings. "Actually sir..." i start to ask a bit nervously. "What is it?" He asks. "Well what does it look like outside?" I ask quickly. "I see... well the sky is bright and the bluest i've ever seen, not a single cloud. There's a green field on eachside of us spreading as far as the eye can see and in the distance is a forrest as well. We won't be seeing much people or houses yet but the sight is peaceful, and the breeze is nice." He sounded relaxed and quite happy in our surroundings. It made me kinda excited. "I hope i'll be able to see it one day." I said happy with a picture in my mind. "If your up for it you can have a peak through one of the windows." He offered. I looked up from where I sat and saw dark red curtains hanging on each side of the carrage. I stood up wobbly and lift the curtain just a bit as a strong breeze waffted through the carrage showing me a bright new world that sparkled. It was more beautiful than what I had imagined and no words could describe. A clear grassy field as far as you could see and swayed with the wind and a forrest just behind it. The sky was clear as well and was truelly blue with no clouds in sight. I could even smell a near by river and the flowers that hid among the grass. Even though Isaw the world for but only a few seconds it left me in awe as i droppes the curtain back down. "So what did you see?" He ask curious. "Something more amazing than I could have ever imagined." I say stunned but happy. I hear him bellow a laugh that was in a weird way quite humble and soothing. "It is quite the sight ain't it kid." The akwardness seemed to have passed. "I'll tell ya what kid when we stop I'll introduce you to Shadow and Mist." He said in renewed interest. "Is it really safe for me to come outside though?" I ask unsure. "You'll have to come out of the carrage sooner or later kid. But it's up to you to say if your ready or not." He says trying not to pressure me. "Thank you." I say glad to have someone to talk to. "No problem kid." He said with a chuckle. A few hours later the carrage stops. "Alright its dusk. Have you made your decision?" He asks in a soft voice. "I have... i'll meet Mist and Shadow... but i need help getting out my legs still aren't strong enough to stand or walk properly." I say in a small voice. "Thats not a problem i can carry you if you want." He offeres. "Could you just stand infront of the back door I can manage to slide off but ill need support." I say kinda embarrased thinking about being held by a stranger. "I can do that." He says and then silence. I slide to the back of the carrage and push the heavy blanket out of the way where a nice breeze catches my hair and a view of a red and orange sky reaches out for miles. Then I see a man facing away from me but close enough i could grab for support. His shoulders were broad but that was about all i see since he wore a black cloack. His hair was pure black like that of a raven's feather and pretty long too, it came just past his shoulders and was pin straight. "You must be the one who's driving." I say with a smile. "That I am kid. You can call me Zefire. Or Zee for short" he says as he turns around. His eyes were a steely coca brown and his hair was partly in his face which was very rectagular and muscular. His arms were crossed and he was staring at me. He was tall too... very tall. It was intimidating looking at him. "Your really tall." I say nervous. He chuckles and his face lights up and he wasn't as scary looking. "Sorry kid but you look pretty funny. That curly white hair of yours is everywhere and you look like a mess with those dirty clothes on. How about I find you some clean clothes while you wash up by the river there." He points to a river a few steps away from the carrage. I nod as I slip off the carrage. He catches my arm and supports me till I sit down by the river. "You let me know when your done washing up and dressed so I can help you back up." He says trying not to laugh at the sight of me. I wash up quickly and take my dirty clothes off scrubbing all the dirt and sweat off my body. I look to my side and see a bucket with clothes in it. He must have dropped it there when he set me down. I take the clothes out and gentley set them on the grown. I grab the buckey and scoop up some what and throw it on my head to wash my hair. The cold water felt good against my warn skin and even better on my face. Once I got all the dirt and ick from my hair I dried off and put the clothes on that Zefire gave me. It was a short flared out white summer dress that came down to my knees. It fit comfortably and it was silky too. Socks were included as well which also came up to my knees. Shoes were under the socks they were plain black but fit comfortably. "I'm done Mr. Zefire!" I call out once I'm done dressing myself. He shows up and look at me with a funny grin. "That hair of yours." He sighs and takes out a comb coming towards me. "Mind if I fix it?" He asks before touching me. I shake my head and he starts combing my hair. He did a much better job at it than brother did who always pulled at it. I got that empty feeling again in my chest. "There all done I put a pin in it to hold your hair up." He says satsified with his work. "For such a scary man you know how to do hair quite well." I smile back at him. "Years of practice with my 3 girls pays off." He says proudly and helps me up. "I started a camp fire and made some soup. Sit here while i grab some bowls and spoons." He sets me down by the toasty warm fire and returns shortly after his leave with bowls and spoon in hand. He takes a sit to the left of me and starts pooring soup in a bowl once it was full he handes it to me. "Eat up. You'll need your strength. And let me know if you would like sec....onds." before he could finish I already finished my soup and set the empty bowl down. "You can have more you know theres plenty for seconds and even thirds with some left over i even brought bread out." He said concerned. I looked over and my stomach growled embarrasingly. He chuckled again. "You wont starve on this trip I promise and we wont run out of food. Eat as much as you'd like." He said with a smile that make his gruff face look friendlier. I nodded and he grabbed my bowl refilled and gave me some bread to go with it. We didnt talk for the rest of the evening and before I knew it I was full and dozing off to sleep outside in the wonderfully peaceful outside. Chapter 2 end
