Her smile was inviting, in a playful, childish way. Her giggles lingered as she pranced among the skeletal trees as if frolicking in a field of wildflowers. Her long dark hair flowing behind in the wind called out to me and I couldn't help but to follow her. Catching a glimpse of her sweet doe eyes, I was instantly seduced with the promise of solace buried deep in the secrets of the forest. I could feel the sweat on my brow, a subtle hint for me to turn around, yet I chose to ignore the warning. My feet began to sink in the soft soil with each step. How is she floating above the ground? I thought to myself trying to keep up. I wanted what she had, life here seemed so peaceful so I kept trudging through. The wind howled through the trees sounding like distant screams of the lost souls that traveled this path before me. I stopped to listen, looking around for signs of life. Gazing up, the sky began to disappear as the branches of the trees reached out to one another acting as a barrier between me and the sky. Panic set in, and the promise of peace soon faded. I searched for comfort in her eyes once more, but she was gone. I called out, my voice echoed through the trees, no one came. I lifted my foot in hopes to escape when I felt a grip around my ankle, I soon tripped and fell peacefully into the soft bed of grass. My relief was short lived when the hands of the forest grew from the earth and grabbed me, pulling me under. One last time, I saw her angelic face bidding me farewell...The dark angel of the forest claimed another unsuspecting soul...
