I'm incredibly cynical when it comes to memiors. I'm not entirely sure why. Maybe because some people make them for weird reasons. Though I get it. Writing about the past is extremely therapeutic. I just don't understand why people always need to publish them. It could be that some of their friends and family really want to read it, and emailing it seems positively absurd. (That's a reason I published two fictional books.) It could be to help people who are in similar situations realize they aren't alone. The truth is that I'll never know why. This isn't to say that I haven't found memiors I like. I love This is Gonna Hurt by Nikki Sixx. He doesn't blame people like I've seen a lot of people do. You can't blame people for the choices YOU make. How to Write a Book by Ryan Higa was also good because he gave credit to his ghostwriter, he was explaining how to write a book while telling his own story. That is purely amazing.
My aunt has been on me to write a memoir about my life woth Cerebral Palsy. So I decided to write personal essays about various subjects. But I'm afraid to post/publish them. They are about touchy subjects, and even though I blame no one for what happened they will see it that way. So even though I'm proud of them I worry...

I say go with your heart. Don't worry about what other people would think. Fearing and worrying about the unknown is only going to hold you back. So if you want to write your story, go for it. I, for one, would love to read it. 💜
