Childhood fears never end

Fractured mind can never mend

Distorted dreams in a darkened vault

Maybe it really was my fault

I sit alone, a slave to a memory

Fear grips me tighter, can't break free

Still a child consumed by guilt

Hidden behind this wall I built.

Brick by brick,stone by stone

Surrounded but,forever alone

The ties that bind this man you see

Remain in place eternally.

M Earl 2017.
