What is this crazy thing called "depression" that people are talking about? Is it the overwhelming feeling of doom and gloom, some brain dysfunction, or is it some sudden change of chronic emotion? Well, after having gone through it myself, this is my theory. Depression isn't always sadness. It can be feeling numb at 3am, but smiling and laughing with friends at 3pm - of the same day. It can be not being able to get out of bed to face the world even though you were fine just the day before. It can be not eating when you're hungry but you just can't be bothered, and it can also be overeating because you're bored and feel empty. It can be a state of overly loving or not at all. Depression isn't a constant feeling of sadness for it can also be hidden in happiness. If you happen to be in that funk, your depression is valid even if people say, "It's just a phase, get over it." Fact is, there is no switch to turn it off or on. If it hits you, it hits you and that's that. Shoutout to those who have gone through it, or are going through it. I understand what you're going through and I feel for you. The only advice I can give is to look for the light. The light may be dim when you're in a fog of the storm but hey, a dim light is still light.
