As nightfall begins, my job begins as well. I arrive at the home of Jamal Contreal. My research states that he is an emergancy room doctor at night. He is currently using his doctor privilages to drink the blood of the living. This guy has alot of oppurtunities to scout particular victims here. As I can see from his window, he is too clean and well off to be a suspect. This can not be who I am lookng for. On to the next person, Conor Silkwood. He is a tech developer for the government. He recently infused his demon blood into a machine that fuels it and makes this machine see things clearly in a pitch black area. This technology will be helpful during future wars with other countries if the alliances ever failed. He is not the kidnapper. He contributes highly to the country. Last person, Samuel Johnson. He is a street hustler. He sells demon flakes in secret. I have put him in jail for selling this to the living. Demon flakes are a highly addictive drug that is made from skin flakes of demons mixed with a spell from a witch. if another unliving eats a demon flake it will just cause them to hillusinate and slurr their words. It is said they it puts them in a magical place. When a living eats a flake, they become enhanced with senses, power, and speed, but if they do not take some in forty-eight hours then they will expirience horrible side effects. Sometimes severe injuries or even death. He recently got out of jail. I will have to go check out.
It did not look like Samuel from what I have seen, but he could have used a tranformation totem to have himself not look like who he really is. That totem is really hard to come by though. Anything can be possible with the right witch. He is standing on a corner, looking in all directions. His actions are signs of paranoia. He is slick dressed. Not like the kidnapper. I head his way to talk to him. He noticed me. His eyes became glued to mine, and his fingers twitch at every step towards him. "Don't run Sam. I'm not in the mood. Just have a couple questions."
"Sin, I've been clean man. I'm not selling the flakes anymore." He keeps glancing around as if he is searching for a way out.
"I am not here for that. Have you heard about a kidnapper that is a demon kidnapper the living in the daylight?" I do not accuse him of kidnapping just yet to see if he will show any signs of him being the criminal.
"Man, I know nothing about that. Though I have heard some homies saying that they are getting a small supply of fresh human flesh, but that's all I know man." He reaches down to his jacket pocket only to tap it.
"What you got there? I can smell something." His head twitches showing me that this is nothing he will just show me. "Take it out or you will be put into custody to be question in a more distant area."
"Sin? Man, it's just a little bit of some wolf's scratch. I got to make a living somehow. It is not as strong as demon flakes, but gives a similar high. I'm definitly not selling to the living." He takes out a small bag of wolf's scratch. Trade one high for another just for a little money. He puts it back in his pocket.
"Sorry, but I know you are lying. I know what wolf's scratch smells like. This is a completely different scent. Kind of a rotting smell. Show me what's in your pocket and give me any totems you have."
Samuel balls up his fist. I felt the air become dark. He pulls back his arm, and throws a fast right hand punch. I side step and grab his right arm. With his left, he takes out a totem. The sign on it shows that it is a speed totem. It starts to bed itself on top of his hand, but i grab part of the totem and tug it out. I swing him around, and slam him against a wall. Blood drips from his temple and nose. I have his arm twisted around his back. I reach in his jacket. I take out a bag of drugs and throw it on the ground. I feel another bag that feels warm and mushy. I take it out. The bag is filled with blood.
"Sam. What are you doing with human flesh? You are the daylight kidnapper right? You are going away today, and this time it's forever. Lets go."
As I was about to cuff him, I heard in a distance, "Mmmm! You taste good. The hustlers will love your freshy flesh." He steps around the corner. There he is. The daylight kidnapper. Ragged clothes, sinister smile. It is him. That means I have the wrong guy. I shove Samuel to the side. I charge in the direction of the kidnapper. He gets scared and starts running in the other direction, and dropping a duffle bag of fresh meat. He takes out a teleportation totem. It starts bedding itself into his skin. Black aura covers my body and I use my speed powers to boost myself. His body starts to fade away leaving dust floating.
"Not this time!" I reach out, and grab what was left of the residue. I use my teleportation ability. I appear right beside him a block over from where we were. I grab him. Pull the totem out of his skin. We fall to the ground. As he tries to scramble with me to get up, I smash his head against the concrete. His eye pops out of his head and blood starts to fill the sidewalk. I slowly rise to my feet. His body transforms in to Conor Silkwood. Then he burst into flames. No one would have ever guessed it would be him. My death dagger was penetrated through his back. The death dagger is the only thing that can give true death to demons. The handle is wrapped in leather and the blade is a combination of a witches spell and an Angel's feather. I use a conceiling power to make sure no other demon tries to take the death dagger. It can not get into the hands of any other demon. I pick my dagger up from the sidewalk. I put it back into its sleeve. I dust off my trench coat. There she was. The same woman I ran into last night. She stands infront of me. Tears covering her eyes. Her body is trembling from what she witnessed. She could not move her feet to run.
"Hey. You can see me?" I asked her with confusion.
"Of course I can! I just saw you kill that man! Oh my god! I just witnessed a murder." She falls to the ground. "Don't hurt me! Please!"
I reach to grab her shoulder to comfort her, but she shrugs my arm away. "Ma'am. This man was a kidnapper. There is a life you probably wouldn't believe, but I think you are something beyond human. I am a demon detective. I am the demon Sincast. This man was scouting the living at night to kidnap them during the daylight.  Then he would sell their flesh. We were using glamour to prevent the living from seeing us, but somehow you can see us."
"What happened to him? Where did he go? This seems like a bad nightmare. I normally don't jog this route. I've been having a dream of a man in a black treanch coat with a glowing dagger will be here on this street. I did not want to run this way, but my feet had a mind of its own." She seemed more calm now.
"You had witnessed a demon meeting true death. He is gone forever and will never again do anything to harm the living. It is my job to protect the living. I can explain all this to you." I did not finish what I was saying to her. She took off running. This is probably too much for her to take in. I was going to go after her, but I did not want to scare her. No one would believe her anyways.
I stroll along the sidewalk in silence. Thinking of the woman who might be a decendant of The Eye. This woman is now inner twined with all my thoughts. Her face pops up every few thoughtrs. I try to forget it because she might not be of that great. Maybe just a coincidence that she can see us with glamour on. My phone starts to ring. "Have you finished the job?"
"Yes. The daylight kidnapper is dead." I replied.
"Good. You have another job." The Highers do not joke round when it comes to the living. "It's your old friend. Lucy."
"What? She was rumored to be dead." My body shivers from the thought of her still being alive.
"She is very much alive and is a suspect in the murder of three females who all have similar features to one another. There are witnesses that described her. Are you up to this Sincast?" The voice asked to get reassurance that I will be able to fullfil this job.
"Lucy? I will get to the bottom of this." If this is to be Lucy, then this will be very difficult for me.
