He was so greedy that everyone in all of Hampden was afraid of him and they feared him so. Hey question Kev… I mean Charles Dickens how would you know he is the greediest man in all of Hampden, I mean there are a lot of other people out there like that right? {Narrator}You got a point Richard, I mean maybe he isn’t the only one but in this case, he is. Now I was saying that since everyone feared him so, he didn’t care at all about Christmas, not one bit, oh and here comes Mr. humbug himself. So, Scrooge walked by all the houses and said humbug to a couple of people until he reaches his work place called “Ebenezer Scrooge and Jacob Marley” his old partner Jacob Marley was dead, but Scrooge just walked in and saw Bob Cratchit doing book work with the rest of the book workers. Bob looked up from his book and said, “Oh hello there Mr. Scrooge me and my family are having a pretty nice Christmas week since sir it is almost Christmas time. Well that’s good Cratchit and humbug to Christmas, and did you do my laundry Cratchit? yes, I did sir, and do you think I could have the day off or maybe a brake tomorrow sir? yes, no! Of course, you can’t, maybe a day off since it is Christmas day tomorrow, but be back to work next day much the earlier Cratchit. Oh yes sir thank you very much sir and hum… I mean merry Christmas to you “and humbug to you.” Then two men from the poor people home came to collect some donation for helping them out so they knock on Scrooge’s work door and Scrooge opened it up and said, yes oh hello what do you want! Oh, sir will you give us some money to help the poor out please Oh let me think, if I did then you would be putting yourself out of business and you won’t have any money left for the poor at all. Oh, that would not be good at all sir we would not want that at all, I guess you don’t have to donate at all. Okay then you two should be going and humbug to you two.” Then as the two men left Scrooge’s nephew came in and said, hello uncle will you be able to make it for Christmas dinner at all? Nephew you know that I don’t come to those dinners at all now humbug! We’ll have a merry Christmas uncle. Then as Fred left his uncle Scrooge decided to get ready to go to his house and turn in for the night. Now readers Scrooge was not going to let anything in his way or disturb him at all, now back to the story. Now scrooge walked to his house and took his key out of his coat pocket and was going to put it in the key hole but then an image appeared on the door knocker it was the image of his partner Jacob Marley he said “Scrooge!” Jacob, oh humbug! And he went inside and grabbed a candle and started climbing the stairs and looking all around and he made it to his bedroom and put on his nightgown and put the candle down and sat in front of the fire place then a sound from down stairs scared Scrooge and a figment appear in his bedroom and said, hello Scrooge remember me your partner Jacob Marley Yes Jacob Marley but your dead! Why do you have chains? Scrooge I earned these chains from stealing and being greedy, your chains are much longer than mine. No that can’t be Jacob it just can’t, can it? yes Scrooge, now you will be visited by 3 ghosts at the stroke of midnight good bye Scrooge. Wait! Marley, humbug! {Narrator}So, readers, Scrooge got out of his chair and put his candle out and went to his bed and drifted off to sleep Um… Kev… I mean Charles how do you know that the ghost will come at the stroke of midnight? {Narrator} Oh, that’s easy Richard. Yes, easy for you to say. So as the clock went around the bell rang and woke up Scrooge, and another figment appeared in front of Scrooge’s bed post and said, hello there I am the ghost of Christmas past and I am here Scrooge to show you, your past come with me and take my hand. So, Scrooge took the ghost of Christmas past’s hand and they were back in the past of Hampden. Scrooge looked around and saw everyone walking in the street and then he looked through a window and saw a younger version of himself the ghost said, Scrooge do you remember that young lady over there? Yes, I do that’s Belle she was pretty and nice to me. But you weren’t always nice to her Scrooge were you Ebenezer I was thinking that maybe we could go somewhere nice maybe okay? Listen Belle you were late on your payment and I would not mind having the rest of the payment you can just leave go now. Fine! I will just go! So Belle slammed the door behind her and all of Scrooge’s money falls down then Scrooge says to the ghost Sprit can we leave I can’t bear to see this any longer please I want to leave now sprit then scrooge looked around and he was back in his bedroom and then he heard a sound in the sitting area and went in and saw another figment reader can you guess what he saw, and if you said the ghost of Christmas present then you would be correct. Um… Charles how can he see these ghost is Scrooge going crazy or something? {Narrator} What! No of course not Richard what a ridiculous question you ask me! Sorry readers I am sure Richard said nothing by fault now back to the story. The ghost said, hello Scrooge I am the ghost of Christmas present and I am here to show you the present-day Scrooge. Really Sprit you are. So, the ghost took Scrooge to the Cratchit’s house and Scrooge looked through the window and saw Bob and Mrs. Cratchit making dinner. Oh, Bob we don’t have enough food dear. Oh, Emily I think that we have enough. Then a little boy came out with one crutch heading to the dinner table. The ghost said, Scrooge little Tim is a great kid nice, respectful, honest, and brave. Now that’s a boy sprit. Then everything disappeared, and fog came, then a Ghost wearing a long hood that coved him, all the way to the ground appear in front of Scrooge {Narrator} Now readers this ghost was the ghost of Christmas future he was here to show Scrooge his future. Then Scrooge said, you must be the ghost of Christmas future you’re here to show me what happens in my future right sprit? The ghost nodded his head and showed Scrooge the Cratchit’s house, and Scrooge looked in the window and said, Sprit it’s not very happy in there it looks much darker then it usually is. Then Mrs. Cratchit said, Oh Bob this is the year we spend Christmas without Tim. Mrs. Cratchit starts crying and Bob says, I know he was a very nice boy and I am sure he will like the place he is, he is near the ducks just like where he likes. Then Scrooge has some tears in his eyes and says, Sprit I think I seen enough, I can’t bear to seen anymore sprit please take me home. Then the ghost took Scrooge to the grave yard and Scrooge said, why are we here sprit please tell me say something to me sprit? the ghost just pointed at a tombstone covered with snow on top of it, so Scrooge walked over to it and whipped off the snow on it and it says Ebenezer Scrooge, why that’s me sprit you don’t mean to say I am dead too sprit. That’s not right sprit that just can’t be at all please take me home! Scrooge started crying and then he was back in his bedroom again and he got up off the floor and saw that it was Christmas morning, so he opened his window and said, Merry Christmas everyone! {Narrator} Readers he was very happy. So, he put on his coat and his top hat and got his cane and walked down his stairs and open all his curtains and open his door and saw the two men from the poor house and said, hello sirs now how about I give you some money to help the poor out. The two guys got excited and Scrooge gives them 100 gold coins and walks more down the street until he sees his nephew and he says, why hello nephew I will be able to make it to dinner after all and merry Christmas. Thank you, uncle, and merry Christmas, to you too. Now readers Scrooge was happy as happy as he ever was before, now Scrooge was going to go see the Cratchit’s. Scrooge saw a boy and said, hey boy could you go buy me the biggest roast chicken in the front window? But I don’t have any money for it sir. So, Scrooge gave the boy the money to buy the roast and the boy pulled his sled and got the roast and Scrooge bought toys for the Cratchit family. {Narrator} Readers do you want to know what happen next, if you guessed Scrooge knocked on the door you would be correct. So, Scrooge knocked on the Cratchit’s house door and pretend to act mean, so Mrs. Cratchit and Mr. Cratchit came to the door and opened it up and said, hello Mr. Scrooge. Why hello Mrs. Cratchit I want to ask why Bob Cratchit is not at work today? but Sir I thought you said that I could have the day off sir, it is Christmas day after all. {Narrator} Readers Bob’s wife didn’t like that Scrooge was acting this way at all. Merry Christmas Cratchit I brought you the biggest roast chicken and some toys for the children. Then everyone started singing and everyone sat down at the dinner table and had the feast with the Cratchit’s then Bob took a spoon and taped his glass cup and said, Everyone I would like to say toast and merry Christmas, and Tim would like to say something also, go ahead son. So, Mrs. Cratchit took Tiny Tim’s hand and stood him up in his chair and Tim said, Merry Christmas, and God Bless Us Everyone. {Narrator} Now readers the moral of the story was no matter how greedy or mean you really are you can always look back and find the things that make you happy and sad. You can always find your good too, Merry Christmas everyone. The End
