Enemies and Friends I arrived at my dorm with curiosity. I was hoping Emily Robinwood wouldn't be a brat, but her father was basically the founder of the school, which can corrupt some kids. But aren't we all just kids? Everyone here is just a student, nothing more. People, and we're going to be fused with animal DNA. Who gave scientists the right to experiment on children? And we can't reverse it, and if society doesn't accept us, will we be shuned for the rest of our lives? I was seriously starting to doubt my decisions. Remember, I scolded myself, you're doing this for Mia, and she needs this. She can't go back to the public schools. I can handle the bullies, isolation, shuning, but Mia is something else. She is an amazing, wonderful, imaginative, protective, and cheerful optimist. I had never seen Mia depresed, and she always looked on the bright side. Seeing her sad was like seeing pigs fly. But she has always gotten angered easily. She would instantly flare when anyone threatened her friend, me, and that made her even better. The only problem is that she could lead us into trouble, and can get a little too agresive sometimes, but nothing could make me hate her. She was too amazing of a friend. Back on Earth, I relized I was just staring at the door, lost in thought. I carfully nocked and nervously opened the door. What I saw blew my woories away. The room was covered in books opon books with fanarts, quotes, and in the entire side of one wall was an entire book shelf. Up against the wall was two of the biggest, softest, and comfy chairs I had ever seen, and in between them was a polished night stand with a tiny lamp. I relized that I was a reading nook. I noticed in the back was a doorway to what looked like two bedrooms and a bathroom. As I looked around, I saw the bathroom was neat, orginized, and clean, but there was nothing special about it. But as one o he bedrooms was empty, probably mine, the other looked like heavan. It was filled with anoher, more personal bookshelf of all my favorite books, poems, and authors. The bed next to it was made, and the sheets were of famous quotes of all of the possible authors. And the dresser was covered of personally designed bookmarks and signed copies of books by the author. I could only guess that all her other belonging were cramed in the drawers with all these book related items. Emily Robinwood was a nerd withoit a doubt. This relieved me tremendously. I was pretty nerdy myself, and although I had always had Mia, she never understood my obsessions. This means I might actually have someone to nerd out to! But then Emily caught me in her room. I jumped what felt like three feet in the air when I suddenly heard, "What are you doing snooping in my room?" Emily shrieked. I whirled around, "I-Im just-I was just-" I stuttered. She chuckled, which only confused me more, "Chill, I was just joking. I didn't mean to scare you. As you've probably guessed, the name is Emily." "Amelia, but just call me Amel," I siad, relieved. For a second I thought she wasn't joking, "I really like your room and the rest of the dorm, by the way." "Thanks, I was hoping you would like it, because I wasn't going to change it." We both laughed. Now that wasn't freaking out I studied her more closely. Unlikenher father, she had blomde hair with a few stray strands of brownish hair. But her sparkling brown eyes and sharp cheekbones, alon with her long and slim body was definitely inherited by her father. She wore what weee obviously fake glasses and jeans that matched her shirt that said, 'Be nice to nerds. You'll probably end up workin for one.' "Anyways, I wanted to asked you if you want to eat dinner with some of my friends," she invited. "What!" I exclaimed, "Wow! It's already six a'clock! Sure, I guess, let me just get Mia real quick." After I got Mia to hurry from the empty room from which she did not find Taylor in, we followed Emily down the long marbled path down to the eating area. It couldn't be called a cafeteria, for it was way too sophisticated for that title, but I haven't quite come up with a fitting name for it yet. How do I know I'm attending here anyways? By now we have reached a huge family sized table for eight. In it already sits Taylor, Zach, and... "What is she doing here?" Dove exclaims, pointing at Mia. "Maybe we should go, we can always eat dinner somewhere else," I suggest. "Nah, Amel, I can handle this," Mia explains, like that would calm my worry. My stomach already churns with excruciating cramps and my vission blurs. I put all of my focus into standing upright. I give Mia a knowing look, and instantly softens, "Ok," she says, "see ya guys later," she waves. She's already walking away, and I use all of my strength to follow her. "Are you ok?" Zach calls, seeing how tense I must be. "Just peachy," I reply through clenched teeth. He abruptly gets up, obviously meaning to follow us to a table. Mia tries to wave him away, but her face is contorted in a expression that explains it all when he doesn't sit back down. My legs are stiff and and shaky all at once, so I have much trouble walking two steps, much less stop him. I stare at Amel with concern. She must be in terrible pain, even if she's trying to hide it. I make a move to follow her, for I can't just let her walk way like this, it just wouldn't be right. Mia tries to wave me off, and anger flares from inside of me, and I have to force it back down. Not right now, I tell my anger. Neither Taylor nor Iris would like me to loose controle of my anger. I can't let it get the best of the me. I don't sit nack down. In fact I take a step towards Amel, using a steely glare, I dare Mia to stop me. "Amel, let's go," Mia hisses, warning me of dangerous ground is ahead. I know now how Dove got so infuriated with Mia. I know she's just being protective of Mia, and Amel doesn't mind, but can't she see I'm just trying to help? Suddenly, Amel stands up straiter and takes a step twards Mia and nods at her as if she magically solved whatever inner conflict she was facing. They slowly walk away, but instead of heading towards another table to eat, the walk entirely out of the huge room, leaving me in the dust.
